Tired of cold short days? Me too. Let's party!!  I haven't posted anything new in a while so here's a 10 year old tune that will be new to some of my peers, and those who've heard it have already gotten over the shock. This is an exercise in licentious sexual innuendo and lewd, funky sounds. It's what happens when an otherwise innocent childhood is spent listening to Jimmy Castor Bunch, New Birth, Slave, James Brown, Funkadelic, etc, and there are some biblical metaphors thrown in for good measure. It can be downloaded in case I decide to run for Governor and need to quickly hide all scandal.

I went down to the melon patch 
gonna find myself a big 'un
it was Saturday morning and the sun was shining 
and I was ready for diggin'

there she was alone with her hands around a vine

she was in my melon patch already picking

she followed me home with a couple juicy melons

back in my kitchen I cut the rind
it was pink and juicy on the inside

I need to step outside before we get in it

she went outside behind a big old tree
I was following close behind but I didn't let her see
then I heard something that blew my mind
she was talking alien on a radio line

she came back in through the front door
wearing nothing but a smile
I know she's an alien
but I'll let it go for now

now I'm not sure how it's gonna all work out
I still got my extraterrestrial doubts
but man she looks good standing in my kitchen

One of the first people I met on this platform was the wonderful Societe Cantine. He listened with open ears and offered indepth thoughts on my music and sparked conversation and experimentation. He, himself a mind-blowing sound artist, has released a  string of albums over the last decade that still sing with originality and genre breaking optimism. We danced round the edges of collaboration for a longtime, adding little bits of sound to bigger projects or producing video. Just before COVID hit the world we finally met in Paris - I had so much talk about, as did he.. like children we struggled with face to face language; his english is good, my french is terrible : ) We decided that we should finally start collaborating in depth and this is the first piece - conceived and played with, back and forth during lockdown COVID times. Naturally enough we titled it Language Gap after our initial stumbling meeting. It got an honourary mention in the 2023 One Minute Radio Festival and through that has been played all over the world . Hey… The angle of the sun is getting higher in the sky, and is also melting the snow. The rabbits, deer and various birds that frequent the yard are happy about that. I am as well. I was surprised to see several robins that had overwintered here. Usually they hightail it when the autumn chill sets in. That makes for some strange and sad truths about climate. I cleaned out the growing containers in the small greenhouse, and will plant them with all sorts of salad greens, from seed I grew and saved. This year’s planting will be a couple weeks earlier than usual. It is still too cold outside to do much beside snow shoveling, and there is over a foot of snow on the ground, from recent storms. It is almost mud season though, where the snow melts and mud abounds. In some places here, it is best not to travel along certain roads as the mud, known as ‘gumbo’ here, sticks to everything like glue. Once, I was walking and the mud built up on the soles of my boots, as I was uplifted off the ground by a couple inches. OK… this song. Not really a ‘song’. More of a moment of exploration. A lot of distorted overdrive. And some new ideas I stumbled upon on slide guitar, while recording. All of which is a great way to make peace with the world, as it is today. It seems I tend to make ‘noise’ in those sad moments of personal reckonings. And lucky for you and your ears you get to listen to it. Maybe not though, huh? I went on a ``fishing'' trip to make music, and I targeted the wrong catch. I intended to create a song that included rich percussion in addition to hi-hats and toms. I liked the sound of the tom with the delay applied, so I finished it as is. My skill level is that I don't have the talent to remake or expand my image, and once it's completed, it stops there. Maybe even bigger music was waiting for me.
