A Warm Is Coming

Although it has slipped from prominence in the current news cycles, Russia's aggression against Ukraine still continues to escalate.

As Ukrainian people are still in urgent need of support, we have come together using the only thing we know how, music.

We asked 21 artists from Futurepast's friends to create a track that keeps Ukraine's situation in mind and results in a compilation that is rather varied. We hear ambient and downtempo right through to more personal and abstract interpretations of techno.

All proceeds will be donated to the Ukrainian charity, Voices of Children, who are supporting children who have lost their parents in this war; the poorest and most helpless victims.

At the beginning of March I posted Senseless, a reaction to the dreadfulness of Putin's war in Ukraine. I made more and held back, but the same senselessness continues.

Now, in collaboration with @scopeotaku, comes AFTER.

This is an open collab ... there'll be a a playlist here, and of course reposts!

Made without instruments or composition. Sounds come from just two seconds of the sound of water flowing across a ford, slowed more than 100 times, and treated with filters, reverb, EQ and compressors.

There's a tempo of sorts... 120bpm... but of course no key. Anything goes!

Please do call tracks anything you like, while including the name muterial (all lowercase). Thanks!

Sounds of air valves from a train, next to the white building, where we used to practice, with Bryan and Francis.

Recorded with a Zoom H4n, 44,1k Hz stereo.  The file is 16 bit wav format.  Nothing was done to the sound, except the short fade in and fade out.  It's raw audio.  If some level of compression was applied at all, it was the microphones themselves that did it.

Have fun with this.
