"Wussup friends! I’m super stoked to share this mix with y’all. If you caught any of my sets last summer, it’s a pretty close recreation (minus the live sax). It features a bunch of my favorite producers and friends and many unheard dubs of my own. I packed about 56 tracks and a million different styles into an hour. I was stoked to follow west coast DJ legend Donald Glaude and tried to follow the vibe and then shift it into something new and still friendly for beach time at the river.
 Also wanted to drop a few new a fresh tunes including my new tune that featured laughs and giggles from my 1 year old and also some of the new Liquid Future compilation that I put together for my label, Muti Music.

AMB gave us the following update about his studio process:

“I just can’t believe the age we live in regarding what’s available out there for instruments and synths and groove boxes and drum machines, etc… truly a golden era where new companies can just crop up and deliver incredibly powerful instrument to the market… When I look at my journey in art and look at where I started and where I am now, I’m just incredibly grateful that I am finally able to afford things that I almost never have for all these years I spent in music production.
TL; DR, studio update. I sold off all of my gear, everything except the NI Maschine, and brought in three instruments I’ve been researching and thinking about for a long time. Each one lines up with the direction I’m moving in musically, and together they feel like a clean, focused foundation.
The Groove Synthesis 3rd Wave from Bob Cover and his team, is the most capable polysynth I’ve ever worked with. Deep, flexible, and precise, it feels like a spaceship I can program to go anywhere I want. I can’t believe how capable this thing is, it’s kinda crazy.
The UDO Super 8 is a true work of art and engineering by creator (I’ll also say visionary) George Hearn and his team. It’s a whole different direction. It focuses on play, experimentation, and instinct. It pulls you into discovery and clearly has a top priority to inspire you. And the Yamaha P525 is something I’ve wanted since I was a kid: a piano that’s always ready, no screens, no settings (well almost), just sit down, play, and write. Crazy how they were able to recreate a piano in essentially digital format that actually feels, plays, and sounds 100% like a real piano.

The result is that he is creating some incredibly forward thinking music that shows homage to the past and is incredibly pleasant to listen to. We hope you enjoy this latest journey, Nothing Too Strange.

In South African English, the word "muti" is used to refer to all sorts of herbal medicine. It is derived from the Zulu/Xhosa word umuthi, meaning "tree," whose root is -thi. In Southern Africa, "muti" and cognates of umuthi are in widespread use in most indigenous African languages as well as in South African English and Afrikaans, which sometimes use "muti" as a slang word for medicine in general, or even as a term for 'good luck'.
