Following Max Le Daron's "Sunshanked EP", Lowup Records' seventh release is a further exploration of the afro/bass faultline. Brussels bass music don DJ Mellow delivers a slab of gloomy, synth laden dancehall with a couple of sharp hooks alongside a bubbly afro house roller with a vocal contribution from one of Ghana's leading DJ/MC's, Steloo. Both tracks share a sense of syncopated propulsion and combine bass melodies and cut up voices in a similar way. In line with his earlier forays into moombahton and soca, DJ Mellow can seemingly tackle any style of bass music and make it his own.

Superhero by day, producer/dj by night Gan Gah hits us hard again with his second EP for Lowup records. With a relentless energy he presents a set of original material of Moroccan sonorities perfectly framed within an actual club context. His aim is simple achieve trance & frenzy on the global dancefloors, he won’t rest until the universe is conquered.

After a first successful release Souktronics on Lowup, he now presents his second EP Chaabitronics. Ahwach Riddim, Ahwach refers to the music of the berber villages in the Atlas mountains and integrates folkloric elements of berber music into a smooth running UK bass riddim, perfectly setting the tone for the rest of the EP. Taktoka, is a tribute to the leader of the fans of Agadir’s soccer team HUSA, blending chaâbi elements with a ternary rhythm achieving a trance like state topped off by a haunting melody. Daâwa, literally meaning mess and things do get messy & wild. With elements of the Northern regions of Morocco - think - a Raggada rhythm with loads of Darbouka and a wobbly bassline pushing the listener further into an ascending trance. Kind of like a meeting between the Chemical Brothers & Omar Souleyman getting out of control. Last up is Bsahtek, the most adventurous track of the four, achieving a perfect balance between a diverse set of modern club aesthetics and more traditional elements, often used during the celebration of marriages, it leaves you in a state of perfect bliss & harmony.

Desert Trax is thrilled to bring fans a star-studded remix pack for ”Saraswati's Twerkaba,” the smash lead track from Desert Dwellers' Clear Path compilation, which was originally released in 2016 by Sofa Beats. The exotically innovative original from Amani Friend and Treavor Moontribe sees the Desert Dwellers blending their signature downtemple dub sounds with global club flavors. It was inspiration enough to draw in a wide range of remixers amped to take on the task.

French guitarist and glitch sensation CloZee joined forces with LuSiD for an earthy, percussive take. Southern California bass legend David Starfire leaned more into the clubby side of the yoga twerk track. Mindex and Landswitcher both went dark and dangerous on their respective remixes, pulling heavily from the subsonic sampling and fearlessly pushing the track into the cavernous abyss. Patiently building from mild murmur to full on twisted roar, Nanosphere stretches Saraswati into a psy opus. Israeli sensation TRIBONE stripped the cut down all the way to its primal, midtempo stomp, and there is no doubt his take will turn dance floors loose with its relentless pulse.

Serpent Medicine bestows the power to transmute the self, to "shed the skin" of what no longer serves us and to fuse layers of our reality into wholeness.  Through the process of life we become fragmented, often letting parts of ourselves fall dormant as we deal with the necessities of survival.  When our "self" is fragmented, our power is fragmented and we may suffer from scattered thinking, lack of energy, poor timing or inability to move forward.  Even when the focus has been on spiritual grown or healing there are often aspects of the self which must be reintegrated to bring the whole self in alignment.   The mantra of the Serpent Medicine track here as vocalized by Amrita inspires movement to invoke your self to shed your skin and become whole again.

The healing power of the Mahamrityunjaya mantra is an a prayer to the ancient Hindu deities It is currently being chanted in the Satyananda ashrams and yoga centres throughout India and the world at the same time every week. People who are facing illness, obstacles, tragedy or crisis in their lives, and who cannot be physically present during the chanting, can give their names for inclusion in the chanting by phone or letter. Many people have been helped through difficult times in this way, even though they are not physically present, the power of the Mahamrityunjaya mantra is so great.

In Southern Africa, "muti" and cognates of umuthi are in widespread use in most indigenous African languages as well as in South African English and Afrikaans, which sometimes use "muti" as a slang word for medicine in general, or even as a term for 'good luck'.
