"This mixtape is dedicated to the first friend I made after moving to Berlin. He's an avid field recordist, audio hardware nerd, and plugin coder - I, too, am fascinated by all things sound, so we quickly found out about our shared love of dusty ambient, early Warp, and electro-acoustic experimentation. When he got me a tape deck for Christmas, I went on to make him an actual tape with it for his birthday. This mixtape is the B-side, the "Evening Tape", 45 mins of music designed to help you process the day's emotions, calm down, and drift into sleep."

Monibi (@mawnyb) is a French artist based in Berlin. They work as a DJ, music producer, and FOH sound engineer. She's played for Boiler Room, CTM Festival, Renate, about:blank, RSO, Oxi, Institut für Zukunft Leipzig, Gewölbe Köln; Hör Berlin, Refuge Worldwide, Rinse France, Red Light Radio Amsterdam, WDR Cosmo, among others. 

Global bass and leftfield house often shine in Monibi's club DJ sets. She joins the dots of the dance music spectrum favouring vibe over genre dogmatism. The vibe is percussion-heavy, retrofuturistic, embracing queerness, and invites colourful mystic journeys.

Her productions and remixes delve into a low end centric liminal world dominated by percussive themes. Monibi's second EP “Forest Love" came out via Barcelona electro and techno label Diffuse Reality in summer 2022.

Monibi's been involved in community based projects concerned with the diversification of nightlife and music, such as Femme Bass Mafia, baumusik, and THF Radio.

New Show alert 💕 Lost Soul Enterprises w. Heidi Sabertooth & Sweater on Polo. Dispatches from the NYC underground: left field electronics, raw live cuts, unreleased gems and other oddities selected by the Lost Soul Enterprises crew and extended family, this week featuring Heidi Sabertooth and Sweater on Polo. NYC-based singer, multi-instrumentalist, DJ and producer Heidi Sabertooth has a serious love for hardware. She's been creating her unique brand of grit-laced drum loops and vintage acid machine music since 2012, pushing out beautiful noise, from the delicate to the jarring. Her highly lauded live hardware performances and vinyl-heavy dj sets have cemented her own place among NYC’s techno community and beyond. Sweater On Polo’s music foregrounds the hardware, with a livewire, straight-out-the-box energy that cannot be denied. As both a live artist and DJ, he’s going in on a tight, Chicago-informed approach. But this is no retro trip; Sweater on Polo incorporates his influences and makes them his own.

DJ JVS - 'Kekri' Mix

France’s Emma DJ - not to be confused with Japan’s DJ Emma - had a hugely prolific 2019 that resulted in no fewer than three artist albums. The Paris-based Fusion Mes Couilles boss deals in abrasive textures and broken techno rhythms that chew up ambient, IDM, breakbeats and acid and spit them out in thrilling new forms. His year started with some debut shows in the USA, he also recently started his own show on France’s LYL Radio, and now keeps us entertained through the global lockdown with this week’s podcast. 

It starts with some paranoid, scene-setting ambience, sounds of factory automation and spoken words that are perfectly unsettling for these unprecedented times. When drums eventually appear, they’re slow and purposeful, there’s floating techno, visceral industrial and a flurry of breakbeats that are all run through with a real sense of dark mystery and otherworldliness. This is an intriguing mix that will keep you coming back for more.
