Float is the new single from Oxford’s My Crooked Teeth, the musical project lead by singer songwriter Jack Olchawski.

Float is a bittersweet lament for the trap of the working week with Jack effortlessly evoking the melancholy beauty of the every-day in a decidedly British manner, calling to mind his heroes of song-writing such as Nick Lowe and Elvis Costello. Other musical touchstones include artists from across the pond such as Andy Shauf and Bright Eyes.

Since starting out on the open mic circuit in Oxford in 2014 My Crooked Teeth has gradually grown a legion of fans and supporters in Oxford and far beyond. With early support from local musical institutions BBC Oxford Introducing and Nightshift Magazine Jack has since expanded the line up to include a full band compliment of Oxford musical talents.

My Crooked Teeth has appeared at prestigious festivals such as Boomtown and Truck Festival in the UK and Tartu Indiefest in Estonia and has shared stages with artists such as Evan Dando of The Lemonheads, Lanterns on the Lake, Lucy Spraggan, Ciaran Lavery and My Darling Clementine. In 2020 My Crooked Teeth contributed to a Weakerthans Tribute album, which also included contributions from Frank Turner, Austin Lucas and Lowest of the Low.

Float features instrumental contributions from Jack’s rotating cast of international collaborators and was produced in Oxford by Jack with engineer Rob Taylor.

Please Hold On

A longtime advocate of mental health awareness, Folklaur gets vulnerable and honest in "Seasonal" about the monotony of her depression and how it shifts form throughout the year and at different stages of relationships. This indie-folk song, with a hint of pop, features soothing vocals and glimmering guitars, closing out the album on an optimistic note. Although written in 2019, the song takes a new personal meaning for Folklaur and her brother, producer Justin Scott, after their father died by suicide in March. 2020 has been unimaginable on all accounts, but Folklaur reminds herself as much as others: "If I lived through it, then I will live through this." This song is an anthem to survival and the rebirth that can follow.
