This month is the 1 year mark of Dirty Sound Sessions and I am thrilled to have Canadian producer and Dj Woadus on board for a guest mix!

"Under trees and over mountains." Those are the places l want to be reflected in my music. Patrick Cunningham began the Woadus project with the vision of bringing a natural element to the world of electronic music. Drawing inspiration from folk and world musicians of all cultures, Woadus evokes a style committed to reconnecting with the earth through music. Channeling the beauty, the power, the provision, and the indifference of our planet and giving it a sound Woadus will often venture out into nature to collect audio recordings for his music. "All through history, events of cultural and spiritual importance have taken place out in the wilderness. Deep in a forest, atop the peaks of mountains, on the coast of oceans. There is a power in these places that l try to capture. Having performed in various clubs throughout Edmonton for several years, released on Do Yu Digital, and been a guest on the sub.fm radio station on multiple occasions, Woadus is now focusing on breaking into the western Canada festival scene.

You ever hear jungle breaks echoing through an empty parking garage at 3 a.m.? That’s what this is for. Mean Streets is built for late-night runs and lost causes. It's a drum and bass tribute to the golden age of the PlayStation, back when everything felt faster, dirtier, realer. Back when we were still counting polygons kid. 

Think Wipeout 2097, Ridge Racer, Need for Speed. This is the sound of busted-up jungle drum and bass straight from a memory card left in the rain.

Yeah, there's liquid DnB in here, even some future garage, the kind that creeps in when the streets are empty and the rain won’t stop and you can't get those damned memories outta your head. But don’t get it twisted kid, the heart of this record is that early-2000s jungle mayhem. The stuff that came out of blown speakers and off bootleg discs. That sound that made you drive too fast and care too little.

So here’s your induction, rookie. The Mean Streets don’t care who you are. But if you’re gonna race out here, you better have the right soundtrack. And now, you do.
