Romanian DJ/producer BOg returns on John Digweed’s legendary Bedrock imprint with his single, ‘Rakuten’. With releases on Crosstown Rebels, Bedrock Records and a upcoming release on Get Physical, this 24 years young artist already managed to get himself a respected place in the international house scene. 

‘Rakuten’ perfectly showcases what the young Romanian is capable of. A dreamy 9 minute storyteller which slowly builds to it’s peak. It’s easy to hear why this track get's heavily played by John Digweed himself. Already released on vinyl, the digital release is set for the 17th of July on Bedrock Records.

The white walls were illuminated by the glow of the morning sun. They appeared a stark contrast to the royal blue texture of the sky which radiated warmth in the early hours. Birds soared eagerly upon the breeze above the water down below as the flickering leaves of palm trees blew gracefully in the wind. It was a beautiful scene, like something from a picture book or postcard. Soon this would all be gone. 

Deepwave are set to release a new EP from Sebastian Deluca, however it was the remix from label boss Ian Metty which caught our upmost attention.

Julian Stetter - "Bushwick"

It’s been two years since Stefan Z last released on this label, but the three tracks he serves up prove the wait has been more than worth it.

The Berlin based Canadian is the boss of the Rhombus label and is a top electronic production talent. He makes his sounds stand out with slick vocals or moving melodic elements, most likely because of his formally trained piano and trumpet playing skills. He’s had support from the likes of Sasha, Solomun and Adriatique, and his label parties in Vancouver were key in developing the city’s underground scene.

The super title track goes first and is a freaky number with spacecraft circling the groove, building tension in the melodic riffs and futurism in the drums. It’s a dramatic track with heavy, lumpy kicks and one to jolt the floor into action.

‘Borni’ is another long and involving tune, this time with more mystery and suspense in the way it builds. The drums get you marching as synths and ghoulish motifs pan about to creepy effect. It’s a real set building track that keeps you on edge.

Lastly, ‘Cipe’ is the toughest of the lot, with stiff hits and withering cosmic chords speaking of an intergalactic war. Underpinned by warm bass, it’s a widescreen cinematic affair with real beauty in the pads that eventually take over the show.

All three tracks here are mini epics that really take you on a trip.

The Rapture’s Luke Jenner ventures firmly into the dance floor, this time in full force, on Glittering Jewel, the Brooklyn-based producer’s debut EP under his Meditation Tunnel guise. 

Following his initial outing, La La La, on Life and Death’s vinyl-only sub-label, Blitz Series, Glittering Jewel sees Jenner step up with three outsider cuts, dripping in personality.

Cloaked subtly into the backdrop, Jenner’s unmistakable croon features throughout the disk - a highlight across the board. While dilapidated drum machines, crunched beyond recognition, propel the record into techno territory, Glittering Jewel retains the artist’s bespoke youthful sense of blue-eyed naiveté.

Red Axes come through with an unclassifiable, stripped-down reinterpretation of Fire Fly, the perfect pair to deconstruct and re-contextualize the original material. 

Carefully pressed on high-quality, transparent vinyl, LAD039 stands as a testament to the label’s shifting auditory ethos.

Meditation Tunnel - Silent Son (Original Mix)

The Mansisters is the new moniker of Scandinavian duo Kasper Bjørke and Jon Atli / Sexy Lazer, a pair who have both had previous successes as producers recording for the likes of Steve Bug’s HFN label, Compost Black and Plant. Now, so the story goes, they have joined forces and set up camp together in a huge Copenhagen mansion where they live with a host of plastic & porcelain animals, apparently not having time for real pets due to their dancefloor commitments! For recreation they work out in their own basement gym, which they have titled The Ryan Gosling Gym Club (RGGC), here they spend 4 tough sessions a week trying to look a little more like Ryan Gosling in the movie Crazy Stupid Love and a little less like fat 30 something DJs!

The sisters have already been playing together as DJs all over Copenhagen & beyond, including the Distortion Festival, Roskilde Festival, Airwaves Festival in Reykjavik and Gewolbe in Cologne and decided that they needed some new climatic secret weapons for their set. So they locked themselves into their brand new hi-tech in-house studio and set about recording their debut release, the ‘E.P. Phone (EP)’.

The release kicks off with ‘Izone’ a record reportedly inspired by the sounds of Boyzone but sounding more like a twisted journey into the underbelly of dark electro disco with it’s pitch shifted vocals, machine gun fills and eerie riffs, quality stuff. Next up we have ‘Lille Du’, described by The Mansisters as ‘Icelandic rap meets space techno from Texas’ the record revolves around an arpeggiated baseline, electro fueled drums and soaring synth lines. ‘Free at last’ steps up next with the Mansisters layering the charged political speech of a young African girl over their own spiky and intense future techno. The final cut on the vinyl is the electro-tastic workout ‘Theme of Haris Pilton’ (apparently the name of the porcelain dalmation featured on the record sleeve), here the duo fuse brooding melodies with shuffling rhythms to create a final opus for the 12”. The digital package also comes with an instrumental version of ‘Izone’ for those of you who prefer things a little less vocal.
