The irrepressible Canadian imprint that is My Favorite Robot turns once again to a trusted producer and friend, with an EP from Moodmusic boss and Berlin house don Sasse featuring the vocals of Croatian Ilija Rudman, who has previously appeared on Electric Minds and his own Red Music. 

In original form ‘Got 2 Be’ is a tense concoction of frazzled synths lines, hints of squiggly acid and firm, pumping house drums. The coarse whispers of Rudman adds an extra layer of uneasiness to the groaning synths all around and the result is a sensory tingling track that will fire you every synapse. First of the remixes is Pink Skull of Throne of Blood and RVNG INTNL association. This one is just as nervy and paranoid, with plenty of brightly coloured and interestingly textured synths all wrapping around the main beat. Another analogue workout, it’s prickly and kinetic in all the right ways as you’d  expect from Pink Skull and gives a further taster of this production outfit’s sound ahead of their soon to be forthcoming album on MFRR. Trouw favourite Patrice Baumel then turns in his Midnight Express remix and unsurprisingly goes for something deep and elongated. He suspends golden pads in the air as the rolling drums churn away invitingly below, slowly working you into a trance with his long form deep house. Finally Sasse steps up once again with his own, ‘My Definition of House mix’ and reinterprets the track as a dark and growling anthem complete with dulcet vocal tones and elastic basslines. It’s a driving track that takes you deep down into the night and places you amongst searching synths and acid twitches. It closes out a diverse package and one that proves My Favorite Robot have many a trick up their collective sleeve.

Sasse - Got 2 Be feat Ilija Rudman

Taken from Trentemøller’s new full-length album, ‚Into The Great Wide Yonder‘, a stunning achievement in modern production and cinematic songwriting, ‚Shades of Marble‘ has been reworked by the man himself, along rising artists KiNK and Kasper Bjørke.
Trentemøller‘s dramatic, edgy and daring remix of his own string drenched opus is nothing short of breathtaking. Leaning towards dancefloors with an appreciation for epic qualities, this expertly constructed re-think will surely be heard well into the festival season.

The inimitable man from Sofia, KiNK rises to the challenge of remixing ‚Shades Of Marble‘ and does so heroically. The pleasing result is a tough, Chicago meets Berlin jack-jam that leads to tripped out and freaky moments in the break, until his trademark drum machines do the rest!

Finally another bright star of the Danish scene, Kasper Bjørke, has his say with his deeper and more low slung remix that leads the listening into satisfying late night realms. Full of funk and melancholy, this is a welcome treat for fans of Bjørke‘s characteristic productions.

Romanian DJ/producer BOg returns on John Digweed’s legendary Bedrock imprint with his single, ‘Rakuten’. With releases on Crosstown Rebels, Bedrock Records and a upcoming release on Get Physical, this 24 years young artist already managed to get himself a respected place in the international house scene. 

‘Rakuten’ perfectly showcases what the young Romanian is capable of. A dreamy 9 minute storyteller which slowly builds to it’s peak. It’s easy to hear why this track get's heavily played by John Digweed himself. Already released on vinyl, the digital release is set for the 17th of July on Bedrock Records.

Amsterdam based record label Night Noise moves into the vinyl market and kicks things off in style with this release from the Rumanian Gemini Brothers duo. The titletrack Lost Babylon is backed with three delightful remixes from In Flagranti, Daniel Kyo and Moscoman, with whom we shared the decks few days ago in London. The Disco Halal headhoncho provides here a 11 minutes long epic dreamy synthetic rework, lovely ! Out in two weeks

The white walls were illuminated by the glow of the morning sun. They appeared a stark contrast to the royal blue texture of the sky which radiated warmth in the early hours. Birds soared eagerly upon the breeze above the water down below as the flickering leaves of palm trees blew gracefully in the wind. It was a beautiful scene, like something from a picture book or postcard. Soon this would all be gone. 

Deepwave are set to release a new EP from Sebastian Deluca, however it was the remix from label boss Ian Metty which caught our upmost attention.

Julian Stetter - "Bushwick"

It’s been two years since Stefan Z last released on this label, but the three tracks he serves up prove the wait has been more than worth it.

The Berlin based Canadian is the boss of the Rhombus label and is a top electronic production talent. He makes his sounds stand out with slick vocals or moving melodic elements, most likely because of his formally trained piano and trumpet playing skills. He’s had support from the likes of Sasha, Solomun and Adriatique, and his label parties in Vancouver were key in developing the city’s underground scene.

The super title track goes first and is a freaky number with spacecraft circling the groove, building tension in the melodic riffs and futurism in the drums. It’s a dramatic track with heavy, lumpy kicks and one to jolt the floor into action.

‘Borni’ is another long and involving tune, this time with more mystery and suspense in the way it builds. The drums get you marching as synths and ghoulish motifs pan about to creepy effect. It’s a real set building track that keeps you on edge.

Lastly, ‘Cipe’ is the toughest of the lot, with stiff hits and withering cosmic chords speaking of an intergalactic war. Underpinned by warm bass, it’s a widescreen cinematic affair with real beauty in the pads that eventually take over the show.

All three tracks here are mini epics that really take you on a trip.
