クラブ・ミュージック・ファンの間ではその名を知らぬ者はいない程までに成長したボーダー・コミュニティーを主宰する、ジェームス・ホルデン。ボーダーレ スなサウンドを特徴とするこのレーベルはテクノ、トランス、プログレッシブ・ハウスからエレクトロまでと多くのDJやリスナーを魅了している。彼のユニークな音楽性がまさにレーベルに反映されていると言って良いだろう。自らプロデューサー、リミキサーさらにはDJと活躍する彼はJEFF MILLSやJOSH WINKにそのDJスタイルを影響されたと言いつつも、彼のバック・ボーンはあくまでもオブスキュアなバンドのサウンドやLOFIのギターであったりレフ トフィールドなエレクトロ・サウンドだと言う。コンピューターを使い人間の息吹のかかったダーティーなサウンドを目標とする彼のサウンドには明確なジャン ル分けなどは無用である。自らのレーベルよりリリースしたデビュー・シングル"A BREAK IN THE CLOUDS"は今も世界中のフロアでプレイされているだろうし、彼が先頃リリースしたMIX CD"AT THE　CONTROLS"(RESIST)で見せたワン・アンド・オンリーなミキシングは世界中の熱心なクラブ・ミュージック・ファンに愛聴されている に違いない。さらにはロック・ファンまで取り込みセンセーショナルな話題となったアルバム『DROWNING IN A SEA OF LOVE』をリリースしたNATHAN FAKEを彼がボーダー・コミュニティーより輩出したことは記憶に新しいところだろう。

ーミックスの録音環境を教えてください。
 
ラップトップとtraktorといくつかのMIDIコントローラを使ったよ。MiDIコントローラーの中には僕が開発に携わっているプロトタイプバージョンもあるよ。サウンドは、一度僕のスタジオのアナログ卓(Valvesってとても音が良いんだ！)に通して、そこから別のPCにレコーディングしたよ。
 
 
ーミックスを録音した場所を教えてください。
 
僕のスタジオで夕方から始めた。終わったときは朝だったよ。Mixはファーストテイク、そして全てはその夜に作ったものなんだ。僕の好きな部分は即興であるがゆえのミスから生まれているよ。僕は現場のようなリアルなミックスが好きなんだ。
 
 
ーこのミックスのコンセプト、またはアイデアを教えてください。
 
ダンスミュージックのみに留まらず、ありとあらゆる音楽的なバックグラウンドから派生する、このミックスに収録されているような「ポストダンス」ムーブメントがシーンの中で起きていると感じるんだ。でもこれって狭いシーンの中からでは感じづらいかもしれないけど、貴方達とそれを一緒に感じて、ダンスへと誘うために、僕はそのことを文章で書いたり、実際に音楽をプレイしてそれをデモンストレートする。
 

ー近況と最近の活動について教えてください。
 
DJ-Kicks (Studio !K7)のリリースツアーをハードにやっているよ。大変じゃないけどね。
 

ー今後の活動予定を教えてください。
 
たくさんのアイデアをスタジオでレコーディングするために、今はちょっと休憩しているよ。それらが全てレコーディングされたらハッピーになれるだろうね。
