No strangers to FH - Washington heads @betterlistenrecords collide with steel city man @thatmanmonkz, producing an impeccable collective of beats to make up their latest four track EP: 'Feels trip to the district'. 

An acid-y start for A2 Thirstin’, which may sound unappealing if eating, but thatmanmonkz styles it well for this one. Through the hazy uncertainty of acidic fright, appears a notion of bliss, real light at the end of the tunnel shit. Such a creative dichotomy could be pretty unappetising, but the two halves to this fit together, jigsaw like.

When you hear a track as good as ‘No Price’, it is unsurprising to find out it was made by one of America’s most established music producers. Arthur Baker, who has set out to get dancefloors moving since the 1970s, has collaborated with musicians such as New Order, Afrika Bambaataa and the Pet Shop Boys, and also works under the alias Slam Dunk’d. The framework of the instantly recognisable ‘No Price’ came from an unfinished cut Baker had produced 35 years prior, and has all the makings of a feel-good disco record. With vocals from award-winning Canadians Chromeo, the collaboration between them and Slam Dunk’d makes for a truly special record. Now released on Glitterbox alongside three remixes, you can see why it still works as a dancefloor stomper. Armand Van Helden’s re-work is a real stand-out, as it intertwines genres seamlessly to give the track new life. Robosonic and Art Of Tones also bring their remixing abilities to the table, creating a dynamic and exciting release destined for the dancefloor.

In times when nightlife is impossible, it makes sense to find new concepts: New Toy Tonics artist Sam Ruffillo from Italy had the right idea: He made an uptempo disco EP for daytime fun. Putting house into a Sport context. And it works. After sending his demos to the label, Toy Tonics boss Kapote joined him in the studio and brought the new Toy Tonics vocalist Kosmo Kint with him. They re-arranged Sam’s tunes, added some hot vocals and here is the result: 4 deep & funky jazz house tracks. recorded with a lot of real instruments (bass, keys, guitars..) and combined with the sound of vintage drum machines. The new italian dance wave is coming up strong.
