My Favorite Robot aren't afraid to pay homage to their influences, as evidenced by this podcast. The basis is formed by a nice foundation of deep techno, yet al the garnish is formed by some synthpop, african drum patterns and wavey disco.

My Favorite Robot tries to maintain the spontaneity of their DJ sets in their live performances, in accordance to their mission of ignoring borders and broadening the definition of electronic music in order to deliver it to as many music lovers as possible: “When we were rehearsing for our first live shows, Voytek suddenly started a spontaneous jam of Alice in Chain songs. Jared and James were completely surprised and thus decided to keep that in our live set.” - C.

1. Lucidflow: How does a creative day look/feel like for you?

Sebastian: I try to live a life where I have the possibility to be reminded about my being and at the same time be able to remind other beings about their being. You could say that it's an invitation of the being to the being to be ... Might sound stupid but at the moment I feel that this is the only true meaning there is. I try to let this be the intention behind everything I do; both in my daily life, my zen practise and my creative work in the studio and when I'm performing music on stage.
Like most beings I meet on this journey I also have loads of habitual patterns and unbalances that can be a hinder in keeping this pure intention strong all the time, patterns that I'm unaware about that hinder me and my surrounding to express creativity. Being aware and see this and also gather the strength and faith to face what I most of all want to escape is part of this practise, my daily life with my wife and two children, my zen practise and my creative work in the studio are all amazing ways to do this. This is the life I have right now and I'm thankful for getting this opportunity to let freedom take place; within and outside ... Anybody who has been to the festival in Detroit knows that Monday is the final stretch of an epic weekend. People find the last bit of energy they can muster up and head down to Hart Plaza one more time. 

As I was surrounded by dark, hard techno on Monday night, I took over at the underground stage and went for a slightly more funky and uplifting set that I think was a perfect fit for the final day of the festival. Enjoy!

The MFR vision is simple. Ignore the norm and

broaden the definition of electronic music in order to

deliver it to as many music lovers as possible.

My Favorite Robot is the duo of Jared Simms, and

Voytek Korab, two Canadian DJ/producers who in a

space of a few short years have become a central part

of the global electronic music scene.

Simms &amp; Korab originally formed the My Favorite

Robot act in Montreal back in 2002 and the label in

2008, shortly after Jared’s move to Toronto from

Montreal. At the same time, the duo hooked up with

the No19 Music crew and a new chapter in Canadian

music history was born. Whilst their good friends at

No.19 went on to form the massively successful Art

Department, the boys at MFR worked alongside them

building their own label into a global beacon for

quality electronic music.

My Favorite Robot Records has received huge

critical acclaim and has released music from the likes

of Tim Paris, Jori Hulkkonen, Chloe, H.O.S.H,

Kenny Glasgow, Fairmont, Timo Mass, Adriatique

and Tim Green to name but a few.

They have released on such leading labels as

Visionquest, Life &amp; Death, Crosstown Rebels, and

Sasha’s Last Night On Earth label and in 2013 they

released their critically acclaimed “Atomic Age”

album on No.19. They have played some of the

world’s best clubs and festivals including Circoloco

at DC-10, Rex in Paris, BPM in Mexico and

Uberhaus in Beirut and continue to be on the cutting

edge of electronic music worldwide.
