The US Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade on Friday, June 24, 2021. On the same day women living the US lost their fundamental right of abortion, I was hosting a June Backyard Bash. My playlist thought process quickly shifted to one that felt a bit more emotional, given the situation. It's not lost on me that most (perhaps all, now that I think of it) of this music I played is produced by men; however, as a female DJ I do feel a sense of pride in offering a space to share music that lets people dance, cry, and feel. This was Part I of my June Backyard Bash mix.
