Baby genius, double-helix, twin guards. Paranormal mechanism. A stupid child in the woods. A stunt double is a parody of the actor.

An origamic architecture. A skybox and its cycle. Splayed outward into a map, then refolded and enclosed around the camera. Plot holes and palindromes. Kneading, folding, plotting, cooking. Tension between ingredients and recipe.

"Talk went ambiguous. Abstractions passed as facts. A euphemistic language asserted itself."

Orchid bloom / perfect beauty. Clipping tools, steamy greenhouse, heavy water, hidden reefs. Stages and sets. Short-term improvisation. An Organization - branches growing independently and almost touching (crown shyness).

Artist Bio:

Kevin Carey is a Brooklyn-based musician. His solo output oscillates between the filmic yarns of Adum Brate and the flower-electronics of Crown Shyness. His debut album as the latter, Isonautics, was released by Quantum Natives in 2019. He also composes for film, video, and installation, and has most recently performed these scores at Fridman Gallery's New Ear Festival (NYC).

Sega Bodega returns with new single ‘Arena!’ – tune in now.

The producer is now based in Paris, and while his solo output has slowed his studio work has – if anything – accelerated. Completing work on Shygirl’s Mercury nominated album ‘Nymph’, he’s also linked with Caroline Polachek, Eartheater and more.

Out now, ‘Arena!’ opens a new era. Crafted alongside Safety Trance (AKA DJ Cardopusher), it’s a heady dose of electronic bedlam, packed with colour and innovation.

Never an artist to second guess, ‘Arena!’ utilises some hard-hitting percussion from Safety Trance, while it is also heavily imbued with Sega Bodega’s world-building finesse.

Sega Bodega says: “I came round to hang at Luis flat in Barcelona one afternoon and we jammed, this one idea that we started became ‘Arena!’ I love his drums so much and his sense of rhythm so to be able to work with him was such a gift!”

Safety Trance adds: “”In summer 2022 Salv happened to be in Barcelona for a few days so I invited him to my home studio to hang out. We showed each other some ongoing projects we were working on at that time and after having a great and inspiring listening session we started the first bits of ‘Arena!’ Salv came up with these beautiful synth hooks and I started to work on the rhythm part. We knew immediately we had something special that kept evolving over the next months.”

A premiere from HAINT LIVES THERE, the new album by Linus already out via Gone Baby. Recorded in 2009 - 2013, these tracks are a worthy entry point into the producer's distinct southern sound.

"American folk and soul, eviscerated bass, and Episcopalian hymns and choirs are pulled and wound into mournful, disembodied grooves, the sound of a childhood dream (nightmare?), long forgotten, remembered one last time on your deathbed; the sound you might hear coming from an abandoned church (or nightclub) in a one horse town in the dead of night. Constructed on thrifted drum machines, a broken SP-202, and an MPC1000."

Having already featured the works of demonically-minded artists WWWINGS, DJ Heroin and hnrk (as SCHISM), Symbols welcomes Brussels-based Bulma into the fold for a dynamic, high tension label debut. Comprised of three club-forward efforts, Crime Scene sees the French producer take his already intense sound to its logical extreme, contorting existing club tropes into fascinating, often grotesque new shapes. Having previously released on web-focused outlets like WDIS and Cult City, Crime Scene further solidifies his kaleidoscopic approach, which takes in a range of contemporary hardcore musics and flips them completely on their head.

Take for example the EP closer “Unity”, a disorienting medley of trap drums, metallic breathing and a sample that proposes Future as gutteral-yelping metal vocalist. It’s rhythm forward and dense, invoking cataclysmic change without forgoing the necessary dancefloor motions. “Ronin” takes a similar approach, full of razor-edged synths, disembodied vocals and ratcheting arrangements that all but drop out for entire passages. “Legion” eschews the peaks and valleys of the other two tracks, a battle-ready number that would have been primed for the war dub frenzy of late 2013. Of course, Symbols fans will be prepared for the onslaught, a continuation of the label’s exploratory dive into the depths of sci-fi club forms.
