Every week we say it: "For radio play your track MUST be uploaded to BBC Introducing. No upload = no airplay" And every week excellent new music by UK artists arrives in our inbox at Fresh On The Net that I can't even consider for my radio show. 

Sometimes the artists are non-UK residents but more often they simply didn't read the instructions. We receive far more great tunes than we can possibly play each week, so if yours isn't on the BBC Uploader when we come looking for it, we simply play one of the others instead.

Bearded Youth Quest are a 5 piece instrumental rock group from Brighton. They were brought together by a mutual love of daft and exciting sounds, and their “Quest” was to create complex music that was hooky, and keeping fun at the forefront. Like remembering the childhood excitement of going nuts at the park for an hour. 

Their influences range from modern day heroes like Adebisi Shank and fang island, to prog legends like Yes and Cardiacs. 

Their debut album “Yatta!” is to be released in late April, which was recorded last spring at The Ranch Production House by Neil Kennedy.

Produced by Gavin Monaghan (Editors, Scott Matthews, Robert Plant, Paolo Nutini), it's a dark tale of unrequited love and the use of alcohol as a way of getting close to someone.

With influences from The National to The Jesus & Mary Chain, the sound is still one which proudly captures an essential Manchester vibe.

Ghosts of Social Networks - Love Potion

Inspired by David Mitchell's The Bone Clocks.

The songs on "Curious and Curiouser" are inspired by contemporary and classic books with fantastical themes at heart, including Lewis Carroll’s "Alice in Wonderland", David Mitchell’s "The Bone Clocks" and, appropriately for the Bard's birthday, "A Midsummer Night’s Dream". In addition the album will feature special bonus readings by legendary Bath artist/author Stanley Donwood and actress Fiona O'Shaughnessy and original artwork by BAFTA-award winning Mikey Please.  

"Curious and Curiouser" will be the first release from the Bookshop Band's Ten Album Project. The band have recorded a whopping 120 book-inspired tunes, coupled them with musical cameos and readings from top authors such as Yann Martel, Ben Okri, Joanne Harris, Patrick Gale and Louis de Bernières and packaged each album with gorgeous illustrations. The albums will be released monthly from May 2016 onward and will be available on CD and digital in addition to the Mr B's special edition vinyl of "Curious & Curiouser". And there will be plenty of opportunity to catch Ben and Beth on their 10 Tour as they visit bookshops, festivals and libraries around the UK and Ireland, playing the tracks from their newest albums.
