Dan Donovan: Singer/Songwriter, Producer, Musician.
Born Marylebone London, lives and hometown Bristol

Dan relocated to Bristol from London where his musical journey started with the sounds of Tamla Motown, Soul and Reggae of the late 60s, by the early 70s a more eclectic taste had developed,      Steely Dan, Peter Gabriel, Van Morrison, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, he started writeing and picked up his first guitar around the same period.  
In 1995 when recording equipment became accessible/affordable he developed his first studio and it very soon became a hive of activity for DJs, drum & bass and hip hop producers, it was a very cool and experimental period for him.
Dan's first release was, State Of Mind, Expose the Hide-Out, a compilation album of artists recording at the studio and released on the Bristol Trip Hop label, Cup Of Tea Records, 3 of his tracks were licensed to 6 various artist dance albums, Secret Affair, (State of mind) Moments of pleasure and Driftin (Dextrous).

In 1999 he developed a home studio to focus on his production skills and producing a balance of mixing live and electronic.
In 2006 he relocated to Lithuania where during the building of his new studio he met Programmer/Sound engineer Art Bilaisis and artist, vocalist Aja.
His first project was writing, producing and playing all instruments on the album, Laboonava, featuring Aja on vocals, followed by his first solo project the EP Light & Dark.
Dan has now returned to Bristol and looking forward to other projects.

What's the story.......morning glory......

across the big pond - or is it the great beyond - dwells a crotchety old songwriter who writes songs (or is it rights wrongs - i get so confused) that nobody has the time or inclination to listen to - ‘ceptin’ his wife and daughter and a few odd friends - but then they're odd aren’t they, so who listens to them. after many moons of writing and recording and scratching and biting this chronic ne'er-do-well always seem to come up short - but then 5’7 isn’t big, now is it? (i'm shrinking daily - you know
everyday in every way we all get a little bit older and a little bit slower.)

after submitting song after song after song after song to this that or the other thing organizations he got no offers, just a come on from the whores on 7th Avenue (whoa, wait a minute that's Simon and Garfunkel-sorry.)

anywho...back to the story.....

so..... after all these trials and tribulations ("oh, the humanity"-in reference to dirigibles and Herbert Morrison..not withstanding) did the old songwriter give up? (i tried keeping a stiff upper lip, but it hurt's my face.)
nah, i can't be bothered with bothering, i write and record these songs because that's what i do (my apologies to field of dreams). 
so, if you are still interested after all this ranting and raving - I am Richard Downs and I am a songwriter at large ( i gained a few pounds over the summer ) from Newark, Delaware (delawhere?-go figure).
