“One of the greatest and most important bands ever to come out of Ireland, Horslips pioneered a whole new style of music: Celtic Rock, a fusion of traditional music and powerful, electric rock ’n’ roll, packed with melodic hooks and virtuosity. Founded in 1970, Horslips released 12 genre-defining albums and toured relentlessly throughout Ireland, the UK, Europe and North America over their original 10 year career. Back home, Eamon Carr, Barry Devlin, Johnny Fean, Jim Lockhart and Charles O’Connor took provincial Irish dancehalls by storm, creating a new rock music circuit and infusing the country’s disenfranchised youth with a new sense of cultural pride. In doing so, they paved the way for a new generation of bands, including The Undertones, The Radiators From Space and U2.

‘The longest tea break in rock ’n’ roll’ preceded Horslips’ surprise live reunion at the opening of the ‘History of Horslips’ exhibition in Derry in 2004. At the time, however, there was no indication of the full-on comeback that was to follow five years later. Since then they have been wowing fans, old and new, with triumphant arena, theatre and festival appearances, and epic performances with symphony orchestras.

So here we are in 2013 — precisely 40 years on from the release of The Táin, arguably Horslips’ finest 42 minutes and 18 seconds — with Biography, a brand new 23-track compilation that focuses purely on the A and B sides of Horslips’ UK singles, and includes for the first time on an official CD the highly sought-after ‘Bridge From Heart To Heart’ (an outtake from the Aliens album sessions) and their rousing version of Johnny & The Hurricanes’ 1959 instrumental hit, ‘Red River Rock’, recorded live in Cleveland, Ohio. These two reels, 'Journey by Train' and 'Golden Egg', were written by the fiddle-player Joe Liddy, who was from Killargue in County Leitrim. Alan Reid, the banjo player on this track, is from the same area. Hearing about Liddy from neighbours and musicians led Alan to finding two published Liddy tunebooks, The Leitrim Fiddler, vols 1 and 2, which contained these two tunes. 

This track is taken from the Leitrim Equation 3 CD. The Leitrim Equation is a music residency in Leitrim running since 2006. A key part of the project is to support emerging musicians in Leitrim. Dónal Lunny, John Carty and Séamus Begley were the resident musicians involved in the project this year. Previous resident musicians include the groups Dervish and Lúnasa. We are back! The long awaited return of one of Leeds biggest families is finally over..

There has been many rumours & much speculations of where HECTIK as a brand will be heading in 2013. We finally bury the hatchet & reveal all.

Still at the forefront of Leeds clubbing 4 years on, HECTIK has transformed and lead the way from day 1. Wherever the night landed, the Hectik family followed. Who remembers the memorable Kaotic night at Kerbcrawler? From our very first night way back then, things have come a long way!!

We now reunite the Hectik family at our new home... The WAREHOUSE LEEDS!

We feel honoured to be a part of the club and we feel that the move has firmly cemented us back up there as the premier brand within our scene. Things needed to change & we felt a venue change was the best possible thing for us. We want to keep the brand fresh & inject some life back into it. Something we felt couldn't be achieved elsewhere.

The WAREHOUSE boasts the best technology in both lighting and sound, to provide a venue that is simply untouchable in Leeds. A brand new Funktion One sound system featuring dance stacks that literally tower above the dancefloor. It features a mind blowing lighting rig, various coloured lasers and CO2 Jets scatter throughout. Elsewhere, the venue has been completely remodelled with a brand new layout this winter. It houses some super plush chillout areas, state of the art DJ equipment, raised dance levels, huge long bars, brand spanking new toilets and ice cold air conditioning.
