"To be honest I wanted to make something totally different at the beginning, and then due to travels and meetings I got new records and another perception on how it should be. Records are new, old, given by friends - it’s a bit a mix of everything, built between Berlin, Paris and Amsterdam. And then recorded with my lovely Tascam and my two MKII turntables in front of a fan in Barcelona. I have a big crush on Luigi Tozzi’s latest release on Outis - especially on the Leto track. Also special shout out to F-On for giving me the latest release on Alpengluhen, his label based in Madrid. It’s a 4 track record by Pajaro Dune."

A good friend, resident DJ, label boss and founder of The Bunker NY, Bryan Kasenic doesn't usually need an introduction. We'd long seen his sorcery at the helm of the controls at numerous local gatherings, working dance floors with the precision only one with a few decades doing it could, what we'd yet to see was what he'd do on the 'ambient dance floor' i.e. Hypnotic Spa at Nowadays. Ariel Kalma is inspired by rhythms, melodies and grooves from various cultures, ambient atmospheres, modal music, native instruments and nature. Ariel likes to experiment with music: mix traditional sounds with modern arrangements, use electronica and special effects, play circular breathing on winds and didgeridoo, create original sounds from synthesizers. Ariel blends styles of music to produce original compositions with flavours of his own. His songs touch deep feelings of the search for simple truth in a metaphorical poetry.

During his study of Electronics, Computer Science, Music and Art at Paris University, Ariel Kalma was also performing with several bands and touring the world, visiting Asia, Africa, Japan, Canada and Europe, always listening to, sometimes playing with, the music and the people: different scales, colours of sound, timing and rhythms.

There are just a few people in the industry who are dedicated enough to run a label and a record store, do sound engineering and produce music under different aliases at the same time. Shine Grooves (real name Andrey Kurokhtin) is one of them. A one man orchestra, if you will, who’s managing to find time for all of that, while working on a full-time job. Throughout his music career started somewhere in 2010 as Shine Grooves, he has put out a handful of releases on infamous labels like Rough House Rosie, Sakskobing, Kimochi, Udacha, Mysterious Russian Soul, as well as on his own @hanagasumi label founded in 2020. Aside from working on his solo, there are also X343 @x343 and Рябина @rowanberryspace collaboration projects focused more on experimental and avant garde sound performed as a live band. This year he’s also opening his own record shop entitled the same as the label - Hanagasumi, a record store based in Ekaterinburg, Russia. As per the label owner himself, Hanagasumi literally stands for a mighty set of blooming trees, the concept and philosophy which is perfectly describing the vision of music released on his label and the stock of records being presented in his shop. Having a tremendous background and experience in the industry started way back in 2005, It’d be quite challenging to even guess as to what kind of music to expect from a man of so many things. But when it’s unpredictable, that’s what makes it all natural and 100 % real.  As for us, this podcast is fully reflecting the sound definition of Hanagasumi.
