So! I shared a WIP version of this on Twitter about a week ago, but for most of you, this is most likely a **very** big shock. I'm admittedly not sure why the inspiration for this struck me either, as I'd sworn off ever covering a track from you-know-who after everything happened. Almost exactly three weeks ago however, I suddenly had an epiphany: what if I did an arrangement based *solely* on the original concepts? I guess you could say I wanted to *rewrite* this track's fate.
Anyhow, I pretty much immediately got to work after that, gathering reference materials and starting the transcription. Having the "piano draft" MIDI was helpful for a fair few things, but not ALL. Case and point: the very opening section. In comparison to Winter's draft, Saster's initial concept -- consisting of p much ONLY the first section (and the backing for a theoretical second section) -- was a VERY fucky beast to transcribe properly leadwise.
For the "bridge" section between Dummy! and the Freedom motif, I originally wanted to more noticeably adapt Winter's "Analog" motif -- mirroring the actual WORLD REVOLVING -> Dialtone stylization from Deltarune proper, tho in reverse here -- but it sounded VERY awkward. Modification after modification led to something that, while not very indicative of its roots, sounds very nice. So in other words, I failed successfully lmaoooo.
I also decided to do the *tiniest* bit of trolling with the last section. The Freedom motif is still the dominant leading force in the final section, ala the originally intended Don't Forget <-> Freedom motif direct swap... But I also transcribed a couple snippets from The Legend and snuck em into the background as secondary motifs and used it to help form the last two chords of the entire track, as a cheeky nod to the "triangle swap" method with said track included. ;)
The drumline was the last thing I did and... if I'm being honest? Easily the weakest aspect here, I've never been the best at doing drumlines. At the very least it's just "eh" here tho lol. (Also I tried to implement the amen break styled drums Saster did in his "Don't Forget" section concept, but I just could NOT make em sound even *decent* to save my ass, so I replaced the transcription.)
So uhhhh yeah, with all that being said, this was ultimately a lot of fun to put together. Hope you all enjoy! :)
