One of the most expressive cuts of IN TECHNICOLOR gets a deserved club update with album collaborator ROOSEVELT's revamp of LES DILETTANTES. Originally a slightly no-wavey narrative sporting the idiosyncratic voicework of MIT's Edi Winarni, the track now pushes back its free-form properties for a heavily disco-infused work-out driven by exquisite hooks and a delibarately jam-like mentality. Edi's singing remains largely unchanged, but reveals unexpected glamour within the new context, making this an appropriately flashy addition to IN TECHNICOLOR REMIXE.

Earthly Measures is delighted to present their final release of 2021 ‘Simbiosis’ - a collaboration by producers Guazu & Terror/Cactus

The EP begins with Cumbia Transoceanica, an electronic cumbia with an evolving melody that sways back and forth, like a conversation between the two artists living oceans apart.

In Zambita, an acoustic guitar dances alongside swirling digital synthesisers over a 6/8 polyrhythm, creating an ethereal electronic take on the traditional Argentine folk dance called “Zamba”.

Simbiosis kicks off with some of the strong upbeat and shuffle of Cumbia before it takes off into new territory, exploring playful melodies and euphoric harmonies.

Selva Misionera begins with a field recording that Selasco (Terror/Cactus) recorded in the jungles of Iguazu in Northern Argentina. Using texture, biomimicry, and melody, the track evokes the feeling of being immersed in a humid forest surrounded by wildlife. Flute by Kate Olson and lo-fi percussion by Mike Gebhart

In the track Cueva, traditional Andean flutes called Sikus play a haunting melody that ushers the listener into a dark and magical underworld.

The remixes of Selva Misionera and Cueva by Honduras producer Abi Lean add another layer of complexity and mystery to the tracks. By re-introducing some of the traditional sounds and rhythms of Cumbia, the remixes take on an organic and mystical feel of their own.

There is no "business as usual" right now... record shops are closed, concerts are cancelled, crazy times to release a vinyl album. But we decide to release this wonderful, peaceful album as announced. May it create some smiles on our worried faces and encourage solidarity in the lockdown. Stay safe!

F.S.Blumm enters Andi Otto's studio with a bag of strings and a mission to create quirky, peaceful soundscapes. The two artists intertwine acoustic and electric guitars, harps, electric bass, psaltery and cello in eleven electronica compositions ranging from neo-classical gravity ("Entangleland") to spaced-out dub jams ("Active Fault Map"). "Yukiyama" evolves in multilayered patterns braided over warm tape-noise. "Kilani" reminds of Rabih Abou Khalil's ECM recordings, with its oriental scale and a beat that counts to seven. The tunes shine most when silence takes over, when the sounds find space to unfold and decay. Far from being trivial ambient lullabies, these compositions burst with detail. Bells rattle, a kalimba resonates, and vintage synths induce their voltage into the acoustic framework.

Andi Otto and F.S.Blumm have been BFFs and musical collaborators in the studio as well as on stages between Berlin and Tokyo for more than a decade now, the heyday being their previous duo album "The Bird And White Noise" in 2014.
On "Entangleland", Andi Otto contributes the cello, harp and synth recordings and takes care of the mixing. Compared to his recent releases on Multi Culti or Shika Shika, these tracks are less dancefloor oriented. The calm of this album is a prolific environment for Otto to pluck the acoustic cello which we usually hear in a more processed way in his solo works.
F.S.Blumm contributes guitar and bass recordings as well as saturated percussion echoes from his self-made spiral box. Blumm is famous for his acoustic solo productions since his early outings on Morr Music or Tomlab, he has also appeared on Pingipung a few times, for example with his album "Up Up And Astray" or as a Lee 'Scratch' Perry collaborator with the "Quasi Dub Development" project. He recorded three duo album together with Nils Frahm and is a member of the mighty "Jeff Özdemir & Friends" collective in Berlin.

"Entangleland" sees the two artists weave together a mass of acoustic motifs, synthetic melodies, riddims and improv jams where the magic emerges from the sum of the parts. "It's not about accompanying a cello theme with the guitar or vice versa.", Andi Otto says. "Entangling sound means letting go of hierarchies, that no one is first. Our studio is not a control room, it's a place of imagination where we take things apart and make things whole."

this is the intro ive performed live for @quackcoletivo 's quackentena #7 set on zoom (link below),  using @lefrit 's rallentato edit from @candouk 's  "sundown" as a base and adding a piece by para one & arthur simonini 's soundtrack from "la jeune fille en feu" and freely sampling parts of a tiktok meme which is probably mr. hotspot & toosi's "whatchu' doin'"   but i'm not sure.  there is also a sample from lonski & classen - the dream feat. miranda (mrux bootleg) and from da iguana - ballad in a'dam and maybe some other minor sound trinkets which i can't recall right now cuz that's the magic of improvising a live performance =P

🧛My friend James (https://soundcloud.com/jameshootman) is a great connoisseur of ancient magical artifacts. 🏰I visited his castle yesterday and he showed me the 🖼️Picture Room. There was only one Painting hanging in the ornate room, and I can assure you that it radiated 🔮magic, and as soon as I looked at it, I could not take my 👀eyes off. The inscription on the frame read: "A typical day for an ordinary medieval zombie."

😵‍Immersed in the details of the picture, I began to feel 👂sounds and even 👃smells. “Listen carefully,” 🧛James said. The more I looked and listened, the stronger the feeling became that I was depicted in the picture!

There was a smell in the air, reminiscent of 🥔spoiled potatoes, but the odd thing was rather that I started to 😍like it, and the longer I inhaled it, the more 🍬sweet it became. My nose literally pulled me forward and I followed him in search of the source of this 🍨wonderful fragrance.

😌I closed my eyes for just a second, and when I opened them, instead of a picture, there was an opening in the wall leading to the 🌾fields. Something in me was switched off, and therefore nothing could cause surprise or cognitive dissonance.

⛵My body moved slowly and awkwardly, but my nose became my 🔭navigator and engine. I felt like a ship sailing through the waves of wheat fields. The smell led to the 🏚️old mill, and I hobbled toward it, grunting🧟‍♂️ and howling.

That day I saw a lot of interesting things, and at the moment when the old miller was barricading the door of his cellar, 😱trying to stop my insistent desire to enter, I heard a familiar🧛 voice and felt how my good friend James pulled me out of the induced experience. 
🧙‍♂️"Wow! Brother, now I understand why you keep this painting here! It's amazing in its own way!" - I said. For today, there were enough magical adventures and we went to the organ hall.
