Witches Are Back is an independent female identified artists collective, originated from diverse underground scenes, disconnected from mainstream business' dynamics, with a strong political focus on intersectional transfeminist activism.
The project was born in Rome in 2010 and moved to Berlin in 2015, where magic beings from all over the world have joined the team.
The aim is to give underground artists more sexism free and queer safe spaces to express themselves in professionally organized events that include art performances, exhibitions, concerts and clubbing, to promote and support creative talent, giving new impulses to alternative cultures. In 2020 Witches Are Back gives life to a music label and a radio broadcast.

Do you remember the story of how a mushroom began to grow on Oleg's head? It ended very well! The Mystique and Oleg turned to the queen of sound - their friend Myrh! She smiled, sang and turned the mushroom into a hat. Now Oleg could wear it whenever he wanted and he didn't have to wear a huge turban to hide his special appearance.

Oleg gladly took off his hat and sighed. The world became somehow uninteresting without her, and then he heard the song of the hat. She called him ... Put it on! 

He looked at the hat with disbelief, but after listening to the song halfway through, he put it on. Suddenly, Mauko materialized in the air and began to beatbox. Oh, how the song lacked this beat!

A trip to the Mazatec village showed me this. I thought that I had met my new friends by chance, but that was just the point of view of the leaf, which does not know that it appeared because the roots had grown enough for his birth. This evening, Don Ray taught me stalking. We went into the people's houses, and they did not drive us out; they treated us as equals. For some reason, they thought that we were humans too.

They showed me their game. They moved colorful figurines, and then one of the humans "won". I also played their game. People won and rejoiced, but I saw that they were not unlike these figurines, someone else, unseen, moves them on another board, and wins a larger game.

At that moment, Don Ray patted me on the shoulder, and we again went out into the street. The moon shone very brightly in the night.

Looking at the ground for real, we found that it was covered with tiny cracks. These cracks are so small, but even them are enough for subtle attention. 

Seeing through them, having an endlessly persistent intention to explore them to the very bottom, we transform into pure energy of contemplation. We flow through these cracks like water. 

Our soul is filtered layer by layer. Habits, preferences, attachments - are absorbed into withered grains of sand, greedy for moisture. All that remains is the intention to find out.
