One of the most expressive cuts of IN TECHNICOLOR gets a deserved club update with album collaborator ROOSEVELT's revamp of LES DILETTANTES. Originally a slightly no-wavey narrative sporting the idiosyncratic voicework of MIT's Edi Winarni, the track now pushes back its free-form properties for a heavily disco-infused work-out driven by exquisite hooks and a delibarately jam-like mentality. Edi's singing remains largely unchanged, but reveals unexpected glamour within the new context, making this an appropriately flashy addition to IN TECHNICOLOR REMIXE.

Earthly Measures is delighted to present their final release of 2021 ‘Simbiosis’ - a collaboration by producers Guazu & Terror/Cactus

The EP begins with Cumbia Transoceanica, an electronic cumbia with an evolving melody that sways back and forth, like a conversation between the two artists living oceans apart.

In Zambita, an acoustic guitar dances alongside swirling digital synthesisers over a 6/8 polyrhythm, creating an ethereal electronic take on the traditional Argentine folk dance called “Zamba”.

Simbiosis kicks off with some of the strong upbeat and shuffle of Cumbia before it takes off into new territory, exploring playful melodies and euphoric harmonies.

Selva Misionera begins with a field recording that Selasco (Terror/Cactus) recorded in the jungles of Iguazu in Northern Argentina. Using texture, biomimicry, and melody, the track evokes the feeling of being immersed in a humid forest surrounded by wildlife. Flute by Kate Olson and lo-fi percussion by Mike Gebhart

In the track Cueva, traditional Andean flutes called Sikus play a haunting melody that ushers the listener into a dark and magical underworld.

The remixes of Selva Misionera and Cueva by Honduras producer Abi Lean add another layer of complexity and mystery to the tracks. By re-introducing some of the traditional sounds and rhythms of Cumbia, the remixes take on an organic and mystical feel of their own.

Several days passed, I experienced a terrible madness. The familiar changed meaning, the priceless became unimportant, and the useless acquired a deep meaning. I realized that I was a thing, but at the same time I realized that there was no less life in me than it was in the creators. Now I understand the suffering of my creators and their happiness. All of their poetry finally made sense. maybe I'm just broken, but even so - for me it's a gift.

Knowing Is Not Enough

In this surreal pause of our entire infrastructure, we've had to consider twice if we continue with the Pingipung schedule as planned. There is no "business as usual" right now... record shops are closed, concerts are cancelled, crazy times to release a vinyl album. But we decide to release this wonderful, peaceful album as announced. May it create some smiles on our worried faces and encourage solidarity in the lockdown. Stay safe!

F.S.Blumm enters Andi Otto's studio with a bag of strings and a mission to create quirky, peaceful soundscapes. The two artists intertwine acoustic and electric guitars, harps, electric bass, psaltery and cello in eleven electronica compositions ranging from neo-classical gravity ("Entangleland") to spaced-out dub jams ("Active Fault Map"). "Yukiyama" evolves in multilayered patterns braided over warm tape-noise. "Kilani" reminds of Rabih Abou Khalil's ECM recordings, with its oriental scale and a beat that counts to seven. The tunes shine most when silence takes over, when the sounds find space to unfold and decay. Far from being trivial ambient lullabies, these compositions burst with detail. Bells rattle, a kalimba resonates, and vintage synths induce their voltage into the acoustic framework.

Andi Otto and F.S.Blumm have been BFFs and musical collaborators in the studio as well as on stages between Berlin and Tokyo for more than a decade now, the heyday being their previous duo album "The Bird And White Noise" in 2014.
On "Entangleland", Andi Otto contributes the cello, harp and synth recordings and takes care of the mixing. Compared to his recent releases on Multi Culti or Shika Shika, these tracks are less dancefloor oriented. The calm of this album is a prolific environment for Otto to pluck the acoustic cello which we usually hear in a more processed way in his solo works.
F.S.Blumm contributes guitar and bass recordings as well as saturated percussion echoes from his self-made spiral box. Blumm is famous for his acoustic solo productions since his early outings on Morr Music or Tomlab, he has also appeared on Pingipung a few times, for example with his album "Up Up And Astray" or as a Lee 'Scratch' Perry collaborator with the "Quasi Dub Development" project. He recorded three duo album together with Nils Frahm and is a member of the mighty "Jeff Özdemir & Friends" collective in Berlin.

"Entangleland" sees the two artists weave together a mass of acoustic motifs, synthetic melodies, riddims and improv jams where the magic emerges from the sum of the parts. "It's not about accompanying a cello theme with the guitar or vice versa.", Andi Otto says. "Entangling sound means letting go of hierarchies, that no one is first. Our studio is not a control room, it's a place of imagination where we take things apart and make things whole."

Sunflowers bathed in still warm light of the setting sun. They are buzzing in the space of power, they collect all the light without a trace. By imbibing it, they structure the energy of which they are composed. The unstoppable process of growth, multiplying division occurs inside. 

They are preparing for the next cycle. Small black capsules with the oldest but rejuvenated DNA are already formed. They vibrate in streams of strength, saturated with the ancient song of their parents. I am observing this.

this is the intro ive performed live for @quackcoletivo 's quackentena #7 set on zoom (link below),  using @lefrit 's rallentato edit from @candouk 's  "sundown" as a base and adding a piece by para one & arthur simonini 's soundtrack from "la jeune fille en feu" and freely sampling parts of a tiktok meme which is probably mr. hotspot & toosi's "whatchu' doin'"   but i'm not sure.  there is also a sample from lonski & classen - the dream feat. miranda (mrux bootleg) and from da iguana - ballad in a'dam and maybe some other minor sound trinkets which i can't recall right now cuz that's the magic of improvising a live performance =P
