Mathame are back with their seconds release on Souvenir. After their iconographic EP „Evangea“ the brother’s brand new work „Betsaida“ continues to reflect on religious themes and mystical subjects. Following their unique approach of a sonic expedition on iconography and spiritualism, Matteo and Amadeo – Mathame – are reaching out for the darker corners of House Music. 

Starting of „Discorso Della Montagna“ - The Sermon On The Mount – opens up a spherical field of hypnotic echoes reverberating through a seemingly endless space. But before we get lost in pure sound the liberating kick drum sets in and leads us back on the righteous path, which, in Mathames case, of course is the dance floor. Mathame know how to play the old game of tension and release and their dramatic use of breaks gives the track a specific structure as it serves as an independent musical element. 

CYRK, a collaborative consisting of the two berlin-based producers Sierra Sam and Pascal Hetzel provide an eclectic remix which pushes „Discorso Della Montagna“ into a rougher technoish direction. The pair, who has been touring the planet as a live act and DJ duo for some time, never fails to apply the musical knowledge and expertise they have gathered over the years to the remix, leaving a Detroit Techno mark with a slight shade of love for raw electro tunes.

The second track „Betsaida“, named after the biblical town in which Jesus Christ performed the miracle of giving a blind man back his eyesight, ties the stylistic bond back to the more melody-based „Evangea“, yet a growing affection for deep filter effects and more minimalistic Tech-House is clearly audible. A playful melody twinkles from the spherical sound carpet, just to be alienated and developed further into a slightly different element seconds later. Mathame produce their tracks on a self-built modular synthesizer called AERIAL which explains their child-like enthusiasm when it comes to experimenting with sound and musical components. „Betsaida“ seems to be constantly moving and in a continuous flow. It never takes a moment to rest but washes over the swaying crowd like an ever evolving and developing wave of pearly water.

Leipzig-based producer, DJ and label co-owner of Kann Records map.ache demonstrates his sensible way of intelligently reducing the complexity of „Betsaida“. His remix is centred around just a handful of thoughtfully chosen, recurring melodic elements that effectfully present the track in a more cheerful, instantly light-hearted version. The spherical synth-lines and sparkling melody is perfectly crafted for the dance floor and gets stuck in your head when leaving the party with a deeply satisfied, after-hourly glow.

2018 has been a big year for Eric Luttrell. Along with the release of his ‘Intergalactic Plastic EP’, the American-born producer has played the DoLab stage at Coachella, Holy Ship, Tomorrowland, as well as supporting Above & Beyond on their North American Tour.

Originally featured as Annie Mac’s ‘Hottest Record In The World’, the EP’s title track ‘Intergalactic Plastic’ now gets a stellar remix treatment via Kidnap, Clarian, and Bebetta.

Kidnap builds on Luttrell’s graceful chord progression, combining a chugging bassline and 80’s plucks to create a lush sunset soundtrack, whilst Clarian chooses to get deep, favouring brooding staccato synths and a thumping four-to-the-floor kick. German native Bebetta closes out the package with impeccable sound design, transforming the original into a melting soundscape of twirling synths.

Having continued to raise the creative bar ever higher with his recent A Million Souls (BEDDIGI146) collaboration with the amazingly talented Francesca Lombardo, that was supplemented with an equally amazing downtempo Dub version highlight on John Digweeds recent Quattro (BEDQUATCD) mix compilation, Hannes Bieger knew his next Bedrock EP had to continue to push his inspiration even further and he has delivered magnificently.

His previous collaboration with Juan Hansen, the stunning Stars (BEDDIGI129) and its huge reception, meant that it was inevitable that their highly creative paths would cross again. A supremely talented composer/musician/vocalist, Juan is rapidly becoming legendary in the clubs of Argentina, guided by an exemplary ethos of mixing genres. His gentle voice is the perfect juxtaposition to Hannes drama-tinged composition.

Whereas the recent, critically acclaimed, Pele (Awesome Soundwave) album gave Hannes the freedom to explore more loose, raw and trippy, sometimes ambient musical concepts, the inherent discipline necessary to create the supremely focused club tracks for this new EP was a welcome and enjoyable change and it shows.

The essential genius of lead track Burn Your Love lies in the juxtaposition of Juan Hansens heart-melting, mellow, 60s West Coast vibed vocal performance with the music composition Hannes trademark layers of dramatic, hypnotic analogue synth magic, bedded on a perfectly dynamic, hip-swinging groove.

For the less vocally inclined, Ashes continues the instrumental production masterclass, pushing boundaries, as Hannes continues to explore his vision of the Bedrock sound, creating his distinctive brand of expertly designed melodic Techno, based around his classic kit: Minimoog, Moog Modular and Roland TB-303. It is, quite simply, a perfect finale to a most exceptional EP.

I'm passionate about electronic music universe : Techno, Minimal, Tech-House, House, Deep-House. 

I was able to discover music quite young, my parents caught me dancing on Jazz, at 5/6 years old if i remembered well, ahahah, and from there my first saxophone and my lessons were offered to me. (conservatory, concerts, ..)  

So I bathed in this register for a few years, before gradually orienting myself on the world of nightlife (deejay, nightclubs, ...).

From there I discovered commercial music, I started to meet some deejay friends who passed on to me the pleasure of playing and mixing music. 

As the years went by, I had the opportunity to learn by myself, to choose the equipment that seemed correct and professional, to improve myself. 

I started to move away from commercial music, looking for originality, and that auditory journey I didn't have before (beautiful melodies). 

From there, techno parties (Villa Rouge, Montpellier (France), Portugal (Plages Electroniques, BPM in 2017, Kremlin (Lisbon), Main Club (Lisbon), ...) started, professional meetings too, and my taste for production, composition started too. 

And for 4/5 years now I'm focused on production. 

Music being for me a remedy, a soothing, a way to say what I can't necessarily say. 

It's a kind of landmark, where I feel extremely well, and where I can stimulate my imagination, my creativity, ... . 

"Music is my drug for a long time, even after my death it will continue to flow into my mind " !
