It was in 2020 that blurrd johny and yeux first joined forces and began creating music under the blurrd vzn alias. This San Diego-based duo incorporates a mix of trap and experimental bass to create a sound that’s distinctively theirs, and they truly took flight after the release of their debut EP, vznary, on Electric Hawk – which arrived in the midst of the pandemic.

Since then, they’ve released four other EPs, including their most recent, FLEXIN, on Wubaholics. In addition to their EPs, they’ve released a plethora of singles, including collaborations with other bass artists such as MeSo, Slang Dogs, and Tape B. They’ve also established their own mixtape series, blurry tapes, filled with unreleased music and featuring other artists in the underground bass scene, and have taken the stage at prominent festivals like Lost Lands along the way.

The duo has the base needed to soar to new heights in 2023 and fresh off the release of their latest collaborative tune, “blowing o’s” with M?STIC, we caught up with them for a chat.
