Premiere: Liar & Mutual Friend - Sidewinder

On the remix tip, the one and only Kamikaze Space Programme coaxes sound into steel and concrete, as he reshapes the original into a frenetic, incessant electro roller with ample, DJ-friendly structure and frequent nods to techstep and neurofunk. Most notably, KSP subverts the original’s reese’s utility as mere textural and melodic backdrop – here, it takes center stage, carrying most of the bass weight, and morphing across the spectra in ways that are so novel they seem almost peerless. Indeed, as it seamlessly moves through warping metal, chthonic rumbling, bursts of white noise and everything in between, it all but unearths the brutalist underpinnings of “Sidewinder”.

El Commando x NO BALANCE

After numerous attempts to pull her out of an overdue retirement, lilacube finally succumbed to our plea and performed at our clubnight. Her set was so enthralling that we unanimously decided to ask her for a recording of it - the evening was the most successful of our series of local club events so far, the atmosphere she imbued the space with by ways of slow-moving, intense beats and explosive, intelligent mixing - contagious. Stylistically consistent with the flow, but thoroughly genre-defying, it was one of the most unique DJ sets we have heard in a while. We’ve also asked her for a short piece on her work so far. lilacube rarely accepts DJ booking requests - she prefers juggling with the duties of an event organiser and  promoting her favourite DJs and producers. Because of that she started the NO BALANCE programme with her best friend at the start of 2015, the idea of which was linking experimentation with genre inconsistency through a duration of one evening. So far they have graced the Zagreb scene with numerous guest performers such as Privacy, Spoiled Drama, Fabrice Lig, M.O.O.N, Dual Shaman, X-Coast - as well as other interesting names hailing from the region and abroad. She is infatuated with hiphop alongside electronica, so at the same time she commences a string of events that emphasise such a sound palette called SevenUp. 
She describes her club style as a combination of brooding techno with grime and breakbeat moments, however in this podcast she included absolutely everything she likes at the moment - the mix contains tracks from the likes of Tzusing, Lil’ Keke, Summer Haze, and Death Abyss.
