Fresh off a 2023 album on the phenomenal Waxing Crescent imprint, DFHF, returns to Bricolage for his first release with us since 2021’s “Migration of the Meaning" and his sixth release overall on Bricolage.

The Manchester producer is known for his pristine and precise productions that always have an emphasis on lush textures and tones.

His latest offering. "Formations", brings with it those signature sound DFHF palettes full of luminous melodies, widescreen soundscapes and springy rhythms. Striking the perfect balance of man and machine with intricate percussive tones that intertwine with weightless atmospherics. At times euphoric and at times downtempo but always organic and immersive.

"Formations" is another high watermark in the vibrant audio adventures of Richard Jones.

Since he was 14 Ishtadi embraced the yoga practice and later extensively travelled India, living with monks, nuns, siddhas, saddhus, yogis, musicians and a variety of therapists and healers. His mission is to transform these ancient experiences of knowledge into contemporary immersive culture.

Ishtadi interweaves sounds of nature to musical landscapes, combining field-recordings with electronic synthesis, organic rhythms and harmonies. Awakening the genetically imprinted being inside, inviting the body and mind to slow down, in order to dive deep - into the now.

Ishtadi is the founder of VibroAcoustics, Nature Tales, Ecstatic Dance Copenhagen, Nordic Ecstatic Dance Association, Cacao CPH and a variety of concert and party concepts.

In sanskrit, “Ishtadi” means purification of the senses - the prerequisite of being absorbed in presence.

Elin Piel, an architect of electronic sound and modular virtuous conjures hypnotic landscapes through the art of improvisation. The highly personal album ’Vaka’ opens up to realms where rhythmic echoes entwine with dreamlike passages, guiding through intricate patterns and shimmering vistas. 

At times, her compositions linger in radiant sonics, basking in ethereal light, only to ascend and drift into shadowed skies, where dark, pulsating clouds of unease await. Each moment is a delicate dance between serenity and tension, where the boundaries of sound and emotion dissolve.

Dark Entries summons Philadelphia synthesizer scribes The Ghostwriters to rouse their ambient masterwork Remote Dreaming. The late Buchla maestro Charles Cohen and multi-instrumentalist Jeff Cain joined up in 1971 to craft electroacoustic chaos as Anomali, later renaming themselves The Ghostwriters. Their collaborations with choreographers and visual media artists led to their singular style, straddling improvisation and composition, the oneiric and the immediate. Following their debut album, Objects in Mirrors Are Closer Than They Appear, they were approached by ambient outlet Mu-Pysch. Remote Dreaming would take shape in various studios over nine months. Jeff Cain's instruments on this project included electric and acoustic pianos, the Juno 106 synthesizer, and a Mirage sampler, while Charles Cohen used his signature Buchla 200 Series Electronic Musical Instrument. A stark departure from the tightly wound first LP, Remote Dreaming shows the duo unfurling with soothing pianos and psychoacoustic textures, its somnambulant drones just skirting the edges of the uncanny. Although ignored in its time, Remote Dreaming is now heralded as a landmark in 80s experimental ambient music. It is here released for the first time on vinyl, spread across a double LP with five additional tracks, four of which were previously unreleased. Remote Dreaming has been freshly remastered and includes an insert with photos and liner notes. Proceeds will be donated to SOSA (Safe from Online Sex Abuse), a nonprofit that combats online child sex abuse and trafficking.

The Ghostwriters - Remote Dreaming CLIPS

Leave is the third album from Rasmus Rasmussen's ethereal electronic project Aerosol. Through the nearly six years that has past since it’s predecessor “Airborne”, Rasmussen has spent his musical efforts in acid rock outfit Causa Sui and as part of various constellations, playing alongside musicians from Sunburned Hand of the Man and legendary krautbands Can and Faust. These free-form psychedelic influences seep into the already recognizable style of hazy electronics, known from his own previous work as well as from the music of his colleagues in former band Limp (Manual/Syntaks). Cosmic sounds and psychedelic effects mingle with cascading guitars and kraut-infused beats on a collection of tracks that sends obvious nods to the German synth pioneers of the seventies, but is still unmistakably an Aerosol-album - an album set on beating emotions, moods and melodies out of old synthesizers, cheap drum machines and Rasmus’ trusty white Stratocaster. ‘Taking the Veil’ is the debut solo album on Kitchen. Label by Berlin-based musician Hior Chronik. Originally from Athens, the new album is a follow-up to his previous work on the label as the duo Pill-Oh in ‘Vanishing Mirror’. The established foundation are intact on ‘Taking the Veil’: the bitterly romantic strings and gentle electronics whisper melting over plaintive piano scores. Hior Chronik has a penchant of producing subtly immense and cinematic compositions which are remarkably chilling in its beauty.

The latest release follows Hior Chronik’s distinctive compositional path with the pairing of a collaborator on each track. This time the instrumental colors are most intimate, honed to evocative perfection with each collaboration bringing its own nuances to a permeable set of motives. Through the contemplative moments, what give it life is the varied scoring which goes from solo piano to string orchestra, opening up a space that shimmers with stirring melancholy. Featuring classically aligned contemporaries such as Field Rotation (Denovali Records), Sophie Hutchings (Preservation), Luup (Experimedia) and Japanese composers Yasushi Yoshida (noble), Yoshinori Takezawa (Schole Records) among many others. The biggest change in this new album is the addition of vocals by Amber Ortolano and Fabiola Sanchez (Familiar Trees) on four songs. Figured centrally in the soundtrack as recurring lyrical voicing, the Amber Ortolano and Hior Chronik pairing also produced a rearranged version of ‘Twice’ originally written by Swedish electronic band Little Dragon.

‘Taking the Veil’ is presented in a 16-page art book format, also featuring the New York based Amber Ortolano as a photographer. The subject in the visual narrative of ‘Taking the Veil’ is of young women imprisoned by their flow of thoughts and their dark imagination. The delicate beauty and ambiguous gestures of feminine protagonists serve as powerful metaphors of the veil as the title of the album reflects – They reveal and conceal all at once, reviving emotions conjured by a sense of mystery. The album underlines this atmosphere that probe the consciousness imbued with burnished hues of something half-remembered and half-dreamed. ‘Taking the Veil’ is the best company for late hours and memory searching in a world of mist and shadows.

“Temporary signatures of time sweep across the house. They shift and morph across the day, creeping slowly, almost still.”

“Stranger to my room”, sonicbrat’s (also known as Darren Ng) latest and debut release on Kitchen. Label, is a beautifully crafted album of 11 instrumental tracks consisting of solo piano and pure acoustic recordings. Recorded entirely in his own house where he has been living alone for the past 8 years, “Stranger to my room” is an album exploring the personal relationship of time, space and being, reflecting upon a familiar yet alienating loneliness. The atmosphere of “Stranger to my room” is suitably intimate and warmly affecting – the track titles are reflective of small fleeting wonders observed at home that Darren has used as theme to base his compositions on, eliciting profound emotions from the simplest of metaphors.

Darren’s approach to producing is that of a classically-trained composer’s, which makes “Stranger to my room” not unlike a composition with 11 movements. The record opens with sparse piano improvisation played in the dark of the night, providing the listeners with nocturnal reverie and setting the mood for the album. As the record progresses, the arrangement shines and become fuller as cellos, violins, acoustic guitar and an array of acoustic instruments come into play. In parts, the album’s intimacy and textural quality is created by his recording techniques – from a closely mic’d upright piano to capture hammered hits of the piano, to microphones placed at various parts of his house where even the tiniest details and sounds are brought to the surface. The result creates a rich and natural environment recorded with the purest and most microscopic process. “Stranger to my room” is a deeply personal work which invites the listener to rediscover the forgotten in the familiar within the living space.

“Stranger to my room” is presented in a 16-page art book format featuring a collaboration with Helsinki-based artist Aiwei Foo. In a place where alienation and familiarity both become parts of existing within a space, Aiwei mirrors time shifts and one’s personal backdrop against changes and the environment in her parallel imagery. The album is mastered by label curator Ricks Ang (also one-half of ASPIDISTRAFLY), “Stranger to my room” is an album destined to pique the interest of listeners of classically aligned contemporaries such as Olafur Arnalds, Nils Frahm, Akira Kosemura and haruka nakamura.
