Astronox Festival in Texas, October 2022. A rare thing occurred - I got to play a two-hour closing set at the end of the insanely inspiring lineup of Saturday night, before a morning sound break. There are some major wiggles in this set, of the crunchy/glitchy variety, in keeping with the flow for the night. Ending with some gentle touches, like a sonic hug.

With the California Bay Area native's background in sound design, he has been perfecting his craft in electronic music for over a decade. This collection of atmospheric deepstep tracks is further along on the continuum of the Subtextures compilation that I put together for Interchill Records back in 2016. It took a few years to assemble and was made for the digital artist Android Jones (www.androidjones.com) who generously let us use a piece of his phenomenal art for the Subtextures cover design. 

Respect and praises to all of the artists and labels who put out such wickedly chill tunes. Much gratitude to J. Job for the finishing touches.

Neshima's flow is like an energetic river, carrying you from the city streets up into the clouds, down into the jungles of South America, and out to the deserts of the Middle East. Sound can become a teleportation device, if you breathe it in deep enough.

While this set is genre bending and resists being defined, within you will find elements of organic slow house, andes step, deep house, trip-hop, jungle-glitch, and psychedelic bass.

DJ’ing to me is sonic photosynthesis. The space and crowd put out a vibe, which I inhale that and try my best to breathe back out in sonic form.

Music has always been a life long obsession. Having been involved in the music industry for years, persistently scouring the earth for fresh and inspiring music, I feel I’ve become a bit of a librarian of sorts. With DJ’ing I have found a way to channel my knowledge and passion for our ever evolving music scene. It is with the greatest pleasure that I present to you my findings.
