Sobolik is a DJ/producer from upstate New York, working out a bed-bound take on modern percussive club music.

Following their appearance on Flex002 compilation with the track ‘Camille’, Sobolik debuts on Early Reflex with Call, their first EP, containing four melodic and D’n’B inspired cuts, marking a newfound intention from the American producer to put their music out into the world.

The cinematic effects from the overture of ‘Theater Mode’ invites the listener into Sobolik's enchanted space. The track then suddenly turns into a total belter with the entrance of its D’n’B inspired rhythmic session, characterised by a syncopated kick drum and a dub-step influenced bass.

Title track ‘Call’ follows next with its mischievous beat, prolonging the listener’s journey into Sobolik’s world where vocal’s triplets and a savvy use of delay generate a sound-induced psychedelic sensation.

The second half of the EP kicks off with ‘Luna’ which brings the mood into fast-paced and dance-floor oriented territories. Here a bouncy kick drum and futuristic bass sounds build up the tension until the entrance of a melancholy chord progression which sets the climax of the track.

The EP reaches to its closure with ‘Foil’, a slow-paced techno track characterised by an incessant rhythmic session, a swinging bass and baritonal choirs with a tantric feel.

Call is available on all platforms starting from Friday July 16th.

بتستضيف راديو معازف يوم الثلاثاء المقبل حفلة سماع افتراضية في قسم الشات على موقع الراديو، بالتزامن مع أوّل بث للألبوم التجميعي إتس نوت كومبليكايتد. بيضم الألبوم ١٩ تسجيل لموسيقيين عرب وعالميين مثل براين إينو ونيكولاس جار ولافاوندا وسارة هرّاس وجيسِّكا خزريك، حيشارك عدد منهم في حفلة السماع، إلى جانب الفريق الفنّي للألبوم اللي بيضم مهندسة الصوت هبة قدري، المخرجين الفنيين مووني استوديو، وكالة العلاقات العامة سمسارة وفريق معازف اللي تولى إنتاج المشروع.

على خلفيّة الهبّة الأخيرة في فلسطين، وجّهت معازف دعوة لمجموعة موسيقيين لإطلاق ألبوم تجميعي بهدف زيادة الوعي وجمع التبرعات. حتروح كافة عائدات الألبوم لجمعيّة ماب (Medical Aid for Palestinians) والمؤسسة الصحفية والتوثيقيّة الفلسطينيّة المعنيّة بالقدس الجذور الشعبية المقدسية.

حتبدأ حفلة السماع ليلة الثلاثاء الساعة ستة بتوقيت تونس (أو سبعة في حوض النيل أو ثمانة في الشام)، وحيصدر الألبوم في نفس الوقت. بإمكانكم طلب الألبوم بشكل مسبق على باندكامب ابتداءً من اليوم.

On ACEN018 we welcome long-time friend of the label @Duswunder. Plated Body is the first four-track EP on All Centre, showcasing the breadth and versatility of Duswunder’s sound.

The EP kicks off with Adorned, immediately introducing Duswunder’s characteristically complex sound design. Enchanting pads lay the foundation before giving way to a disorientating DnB-adjacent rhythm. From here refined, abrasive textures dominate whilst tender melodies lurk beneath. The track reaches its peak with a dizzying arpeggiated melody, eventually giving way to the subdued choral pads.

The next track is Loccc, slowing the tempo but keeping the intensity strong. A range of meticulously manipulated percussive noises weave around intricate drum patterns. The track eventually breaks down, resembling something of a malfunctioning machine, as stunning melodic lines rise from the corroding rhythms.

We then find ourselves with the interlude Sprung. An exercise in space and weight, the track contrasts moments of enthralling intensity and near-silence, punctuated by shimmering synths and affecting vocal samples.

Duswunder closes the EP with Evo. The track gradually brings the energy back up to an apex with the introduction of driving kicks, accented by morphing percussion hits and alluring voices. Emotive melodic elements lie beneath the driving rhythms, brought to the forefront as the track breaks down, before closing out with another arresting rhythmic assault.
