A piece of contrasts and therefore polarising at the same time. A mixture of four completely different musical styles, characterised by free improvisation and an intuitive approach. It is a piece of incomparable dynamism and joy of playing by the protagonists. A piece to fall in love with, to appreciate jazz rock, progressive and psychedelic music. Not a piece to just listen to in passing. It will challenge you. Get involved and you will experience a rapid flight through time with all its antagonisms.

Phil K was a pioneer of exceptional talent. The most innovative and creative DJ ever to come out of Australia. We both began DJing around the same time, but his talent was leaps and bounds above anyone I'd ever seen. A massive influence on how I approached DJing, its hard to put into words the impact he has had on the dance community. On top of this he was one of the most genuine people I've ever met.
As I spent today, November 2nd 2020, saddened by the passing of an absolute inspiration, I wanted to relive his magic moments as a producer. I picked some of my favourite tracks of his, and just hit record. This is my tribute to the late Phil K. RIP

'Clavis is the formidable production duo of Manuel Tur and Adrian Hoffmann (a.k.a. Urban Absolutes). Having been friends since high school, it still took another decade after graduation until they released their first joint EP on Freerange Records in 2015. Since then the duo has steadily built up a discography based on a "one EP a year" principle and selected remixes for artists like Ane Brun or Andhim. Besides Clavis, they are also involved in the production of several other projects, such as Amberoom, which recently caused quite a stir with remixes by Dixon and Isolée. Clavis live and work in Essen, Germany.'

Since his passing I felt inspired, compelled even to honour him with a mix. For nearly 20 years he sent me running to the decks to mess around with throwing tracks together just too see if it could work. I wanted to capture that feeling one last time. 

After spending a few weeks on it, I just couldn't make it work. Then on Friday after spending a few hours tuning in to KissFM with all his friends I was able to find inspiration to finish it. 

I wanted to capture his essence without being derivative, to celebrate his love for syncopation while also reflecting his eclectic taste, to be melancholic but also fun.
