What is Downtempo? Schon ‚the one and only‘ Iorie sah hier wohl so viel Klärungsbedarf, dass er der Beantwortung dieser Frage einen eigenen Track widmete. Das Thema ‚Genres‘ ist ja ohnehin so eine Sache, bei der wir vergeblich nach Schwarz-Weiß-Definitionen suchen - doch gerade beim Downtempo gibt es wohl sehr unterschiedliche Auffassungen dessen, welche Höchstgeschwindigkeiten zulässig sind. Falls der letzte Satz in dir nun heftiges Kopfschütteln auslöst, weil du denkst, dass das Tempolimit klar wie Kloßbrühe sei, dann kannst du mal ‚downtempo bpm‘ in die Suchmaschine deiner Wahl eingeben und wirst erstaunt sein, welche ambivalenten Antworten das World Wide Web zu Tage bringt. Für unsere Schleichcasts haben wir die 'Obergrenze' mit 112 bpm relativ großzügig gesetzt. Diese wird in Schleichcast°27 auf sicherer Distanz gehalten - wir haben es mit einem Set zu tun, bei dem über die Einteilung in besagtes Genre sicherlich weitgehende Einigkeit herrscht. Zumindest für den Fall, dass du nicht etwa die alternativen Bezeichnungen ‚Slowrave‘ oder ‚Ketapop‘ bevorzugst. Ketapop? Yep, der Track ab Minute 30 plädiert literally dafür…

Bei aller Subjektivität des Empfindens von Schnelligkeit und Genres, sind wir der Meinung, dass die wunderbaren Naja und Nadia (@najesh_and_artisoko) mit Schleichcast°27 eine kleine Hommage an die Schönheit der musikalischen Langsamkeit raushauen - ihren ganzen Spielraum nutzen, um melodische Tiefen, klangliche Weiten und sphärische Stimmungen zu kreieren. Vielleicht ist jeder einzelne Track irgendwo auch eine Hommage an sich selbst, weil jeder Ton und jedes Detail genügend Zeit und damit Beachtung geschenkt bekommt?! Wir freuen uns sehr, das DJ-Duo aus Bern in schleichender Mission am Start zu haben und wünschen dir viel Vergnügen mit Schleichcast°27!

mømø hat uns inspiriert/motiviert, die Basics gelehrt und jeher an unser musikalisches Gehör geglaubt.
Wir verdanken ihm, die Entstehung von Najesh & Artišoko und das Vertrauen in unsere eigenen Fähigkeiten und Kreativität "Reisen" zu kreieren.
Durch mømø kamen wir zu unserem allerersten Gig, als er uns gerade mal 3 Wochen, nachdem wir begonnen hatten, ins Tanzhaus West in Frankfurt eingeladen hatte.
 
>>Was hat euch für das Set inspiriert?
Nun ja, wie geht schleichend? Sich so richtig Zeit lassen beim Tempo, beim Aufbau und erzählen unserer Geschichte, mehr Druck untenrum kreieren sowie die Frage "wie klingt Slowtech für uns?".
 
>>Was gefällt euch besonders an langsamer Musik?
In langsamen Tracks erkennen wir so viel Schönheit, da alle enthaltenen Töne so viel Raum & Zeit bekommen, um richtig gehört und gefühlt zu werden. "Langsame Musik" bedeutet für uns: der Musik in unserem Innern eine Weite zu ermöglichen.

>>Euer Geheimtipp gegen den Kater am nächsten Morgen?
Mit Herzensmenschen den Tag ausklingen lassen, dazu Tee, Kohlrabi, Möhren und eine frisch gekochte Artischocke, die geht nämlich immer ;)

He awakened in us the interest in mixing, taught us the basics and promoted us by booking us after super short time to Frankfurt for our very first Gig. He stood by us especially in our early days, always believing in our musical ear and our creativity. Still today he is our friend and mentor even if we have left the nest long ago.

Unser 45tes Igelkarussell bespielen die beiden neuen Downtempo-Queens Najesh & Artišoko aus Bern. Zwei Mädels, die gemeinsam auflegen, haben vielerorts noch Seltenheitswert – Kudos also für euer überfälliges Einheizen dieser Männerdomäne 👊 Als Teil der Urban Rituals Crew machen sie die Dancefloors erst seit letzten Mai 2019 unsicher - jedoch sind sie Innerhalb dieser kurzen Zeit voll eingeschlagen, soviel ist sicher!
Wenn man ihren Sets lauscht, spürt man mit welcher Hingabe die beiden die Musik auswählen und abmischen. Immer wieder kinoreif sind die Intros jedes Sets, mit denen sie die Zuhörer ein ums andere Mal in ihren Bann ziehen. Das ist ihnen zweifelsohne auch in ihrem Igelkarussellmix gelungen…✨
Das Set verdeutlicht wie sehr das Duo miteinander verschmilzt, wenn es um die Liebe zu entschleunigter Musik geht. Eine Synergie die ungeahnte Energien entwickelt. We have been following this talented duo @najesh_and_artisoko for a while and we were lucky enough to see them live at the lovely @amselcom event in Bern before the first lockdown earlier this year. What better way to conclude 2020 with one of their awesome mixes. Let yourself be taken away on their beautiful journey.

Good morning Najesh & Artišoko 😊 

➢ I hope you agree to answer a few random and fun questions to share with our listeners?

➢  To start you off tell us what song puts you both in a good mood when you wake up in the morning?

➢ Tell us briefly why you decided to start DJ’ing together? 

We are friends for years and share the same passion for music. At some point we found out that we are the perfect match for each other musically. One hears better the highs and the other better the lows. We enjoy the time together, creating and immersing ourselves in our own stories we want to tell.

➢ I was lucky to have seen you open the Amselcom night in Berne just before the first lockdown. Is there a difference on how you play depending if you are opening or closing a gig? 

Yes there is a difference: We talk about the tracks we would like to play, think about what suits the playtime, the club and the people. Think about who is playing before or after us. We like to play sets that fit the mood of the audience and put ourselves in their shoes depending on playtime, beginning or ending an night/day. It is important to us to take the listeners on a journey.

➢ 2020 has been a difficult year for the music scene, how has it changed within your hometown and what do you think will be different in the future? 

Many great events and important gigs have been cancelled this year. We regret this very much for the cultural scene. We think that in the future people will be more mindful of their freedom and of being together. What was taken away from us, people will see (hopefully) as a gift again in the future.

➢ Lastly, regarding this mix you have done for us, can you tell us a little bit of your thought process behind choosing the tracks you chose? 

When we created the set we plunged into the distance. Surrounded by the sunset, we imagined saying goodbye to the day and welcoming the night. We wanted to produce a set precisely for this mood that would people carry away.

Close friends for many years, sharing the same passion for music, one ear for bass and the other for highs, complement each other. We love harmonies and the fusion of tracks. Electronic music has been with us for a long time, but it wasn't until May 2019 that we sat down at the controllers and gave our passion a platform to be fully lived out.
