Heaven Pierce Her - Duel (Versus Reprise) (ULTRAKILL OST 4 - 4)

The Kiztatziki is a beast of bulbous, translucent ambery eyes, coarse scales of sky-blue and chartreuse, and of viridescent fins. Lurking beneath the calmer waters of Etrea during the warmer seasons, it stalks below the surface in the shallows, searching for any small prey that falls into the sea, be it animal or humanoid. In winter, the Kiztatziki migrates to the warmer regions of the world, seeking out volcanic underwater streams to keep it warm.

Stories say that the Kiztatziki was once a bigger, more refined creature - an amphibian being formed by some unknown greater powers, it would occasionally roam the land, driving fear into the hearts of shore-dwellers. Nobody knows what happened to the Kiztatziki of stories past, but it is now a mere shadow of its former self. Reduced, it lurks in shallow waters like a tadpole, perhaps awaiting the day when it is remoulded to former glory...

At present day, the most avaricious hunters of the region surrounding Etrea tend to hunt for the vicious Kiztatziki with a plethora of tools crafted specifically for that purpose - from hand-held spears to elaborate harpoon cannons mounted on the bows and aftcastles of the ships.

anyways, as you might've probably guessed it, the theme for the legendary 'kiztatziki' was just the third in a series of elaborate ruses meant to prank the deepwoken community. i posted a fake 'accidentally leaked' track on my side account, passed this 'leak' about, and watched the chaos unfold with glee.

i don't think it worked though! i've lost my touch :(
barely anybody took the bait, and when i took the track down from my archives account (find my cool old stuff here!: https://soundcloud.com/naktigonis-archives ), all public mentions of the 'kiztatziki' seems to have disappeared.

i was at least expecting somebody out there to make a cool lore theory video on it, where they make educated and uneducated guesses at a game they've not yet played. alas.

this does point out a funny aspect of the whole situation, however. imagine if i *had* actually messed up, and accidentally released a real OST piece on one of my official accounts. and nobody would've believed it was real.

A plan without a measure of folly. Immaculate, peerless, unbreakable. In the crucible of chaos, I have future-proofed myself from error and failure. >:)

the joke for this one was that people were speculating there was an 'unknown monster' in agamatsu's deepwoken gameplay video.

you think that weird looking thing would make a roar like that? tsch! imagine what the *actual* thing that made the sound look like.

regardless, i figured, 'if the community wants a monster, i'll give them a monster'. so i invented the Kiztatziki. does the name mean anything? not really, it's from a YTP where the words 'tzatziki sauce' are reversed in the middle to make it sound like 'kiztatziki', a nonsensical word.

i did have an absolute blast making this though, thanks for asking ;3c

anyway. no real context behind this track. my mind started wandering quite heavily while i was working on some other music, and i decided to try and sample a variety of my own tracks (WIPs and published stuff) to see what i could throw together, as a creative exercise. gotta get the creativity flowing somehow.

not going on the main account since this is just a sketch - aka, not a track meant to be completed.

for the curious, this contains 'The Killing Wind', 'And Let Slip The Hounds Of War', 'Games Of War', a guitar riff from the upcoming 'Shallow Breath', and two unreleased vocal pieces - 'Our Fortress (Of Smoke And Steel)', and 'The Hammer's Call'. i made the two vocal parts kinda sing in tandem with one another, or i suppose in a sort of call-and-response arrangement.

i like the juxtaposing contrast between the monolithic and many-voiced ignition union theme, ebbing and fading between its own phrases, and the more laid-back and focused summer company theme, singing in (mostly) full sentences. 'The Killing Wind' made for a nice bassy backdrop for this (+ it contains a fragment of 'The Hammer's Call' in and of itself), and the martial themes from the game just seemed to fit the piece's lowkey militaristic vibe.

i spent like... 2 hours hyperfocusing on this track. my bad all,

a bit of history!

i made this track as a joke sometime in may 2020, heralding it to be a theme to the 'cat race' in deepwoken (at which time no such race was in game). the addition of a cat race called Felinor (thanks to this track and the meme that it helped spawn) was confirmed october 4th 2020 by Arch_Mage.

Theme of the Felinor race from the upcoming Monad Studios title, Project Deepwoken.

A race with feline-like qualities, the Felinor are a capricious lot. Often vagarious and of swinging moods, they are experts at self-preservation and survival - boasting sharp claws on paw-like hands, the Felinor are renowned for their combat skill.

Fighters through and through, the Felinor do not build magnificent castles or form enormous kingdoms - instead they live in gregarious nomadic communities of modest size, wandering from place to place, seeking new resources to ensure their survival.

Naturally curious and of sharp senses, the Felinor also make for incredible explorers - though, their innate disdain for water, and their proneness for seasickness often hinders their attempts at seafaring. Nonetheless, numerous Felinor explorers have carved their names into the cornerstones of history...

As a result, the Felinor have spread far and wide - roaming hills and valleys, deserts and tundras, they are a cunning and hardy race of capricious feline-like warriors.
