lyrics that invite us to set intentions of reconnection to the eARTh, are coupled with rhythms that awaken the desire to dance. The opportunity to tend to the roots of our collective consciousness, continues to be a core component of Mz. imani's WErk. 

Peter Levitov and Mz. imani collaborate on this project. Virtually bringing the Fire Circle and Handpan Common Unities together. He brings didjeridoo to this track, and reflects the depth of connection that is possible in each moment we walk on our Mother eARTh.

eARTh

I've been playing the flute since the age of 10, and I went on to earn my masters degree in Flute Performance from the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music.

I discovered the Native American Flute while traveling across the country with my husband, during a stop we made in Boulder, CO.  As soon as I played a few notes, I was fascinated and completely hooked. From then on, during our many trips throughout the southwestern desert, I would sit by the campfire and play whatever came to me while my husband star-gazed with his telescope.

My first CD of Native American Flute music came together surprisingly quickly – our crew convened at Mount Wilson Observatory in California on the evening in November 2014 and we went to work. The result is the one-hour CD: “Under the Stars” and its digital companion of out-takes: "Under the Stars, Too!" which capture the sense of wonder I feel when looking into the night sky.

This song is from the Lemko people, an ethnic group inhabiting Lemkivshnchyna, a part of Transcarpathia (spanning Ukraine, Slovakia and Poland) who have been displaced from their homeland for years. The spoken language of the Lemkos, which is somewhat of a language in its own right, is a dialect of Russian or Ukrainian.

At sunset we stood around the strongest sacred fire I have ever seen, and everything in me turned to fear. I felt what was coming... that night and beyond. We harnessed the energy and created a night to always remember, challenge and all. And so the year goes....

If you really want to dance your ass off, hard core, big and jungle wild. this set is for you. If you were there.... F*ck yeah! what a moment in time!

So grateful for the musicians, and the inspiration to record this session for you, more than half way through the year and share what we felt that night under the stars on the land at the Costa Rica Yoga Spa- my favorite \ dance floors on the planet!
