i love this song so much i would love to collab with you

Flip Delegate, Jo Saint, DJ Handprints, and yours truly combined to make Main Ingredients, a group based out of the California's San Fernando Valley in the early 2000s. This was a theme track we did called "Kung-Fu," an ode to all the horrible martial arts flicks we used to watch. Now I write about and cover mixed martial arts as a reporter. I guess the song was a sign.

I was at a point in my music career where I was really fed up with the style of music that was getting a lot of play. So I got a little angry in my lyrics and laced them with some darker beats I put together. No worries, I'm sane now, but here's when I was looney like a toon. I'll admit, "Revenge of the Joker" was me talking about whack emcees and all that same nonsense that EVERY underground artists was trying to do. I'm such a sheep... (sheep noise)

Canadian artist Spinman Finn's HavaVery greWVee Christmas, has you covered. With a really nice laid back fusion of Blues, Funk, Hip-Hop, & Psychedelic Rock, that recalls classic fusion and sampler happy rock artists like Beck and Fun Lovin' Criminals, this track is a nice hypnotic throwback to a time when pop music was more experimental. The lyrics are a hilariously simple call for a new drum kit for Christmas. The track hazily rolls along without ever meandering, keeping the listener interested throughout the entire song. The backing Gospel vocals are a really nice and classy touch, and the choice of samples works really well with the overall Christmas vibe of the song. All aboard, the greWVee train!


Strongest Point(s): 
A very pleasing variety of textures. As mentioned above, the song never meanders and continuously introduces new sonic elements, all of which are engaging and create a fun listening experience. Also, it's great that I can't tell what is a real instrument, and what is being sampled. That shows really strong mixing.


Target Audience Appeal: 
Fans of jam bands, Alternative Hip-Hop, Psych Rock, Funk and Stoner Rock would totally dig this track. Definitely try and appeal to the 90's Alternative/Funk/Ska revival fans. This is right up there alley too. Fun, non-obnoxious Christmas songs are rare, so it's always good to find more of them and a lot of people appreciate coming across unique holiday songs. Anyone into more experimental pop would probably at the very least appreciate the originality and laid back nature of this song.
