production notes:
This started out with a narrative I wrote for the track about a lone figure that awoke without memory in a cave that appeared to be sentient, and inhabited ravers entranced by strange relics. The usual psychedelic trope stuff. I recorded the vocals myself, and used them to inform the initial arrangement of the track. It became evident that the story would result in a evolving and winding musical expedition. However, my voice really didn't suit it. So I used elevenlabs to generate a new AI version of the vocals - that are used here. Later I stripped most of the vocals out, however the story they informed is now the song.

Each track I make offers new challenges.. here I really wanted to shift genres and sounds a lot. It sounds quite basic, but there's a lot going on here from a bassline that absolutely isn't traditional psytrance (although the base pattern is inspired by "Robotoised" by Quirk), to shifting from saw bass, to square wave, to switching the whole thing up in to a Brazil-inspired shponglised breakdown - considering I had no knowledge of this musical style, let alone how to produce it. However the real challenge was finishing this track. The arrangement has been 'complete' for months now with me tweaking and trying to polish it up enough to release it. 

I also decided to make this a multi-part song. Again, inspired by Shpongle albums where tracks eb and flow between each other. Part 2 of this isn't included here, but I hope I can make it become a full mixed album. Something for later.

Dickster is quite simply a force of trance nature. He was right there at the inception of what people came to know and love as the Goa Trance sound & psychedelic trance music and he can count himself as one of seminal producers of the scene. 

Part man, part machine - Dickster has a connection with his studio that most producers can only dream of. He has been called upon by everyone for all kinds of musical advice, which he offers freely and enthusiastically. Never too busy to help, whether it's part of the Shpongle LIVE show or lending an old synth to an enthusiastic teenager and helping him set it up. He can count Riktam 'GMS', Junya 'Eskimo' & Leon 'Avalon' among his former students!

Dicksters' cheeky and brilliant mind has much to offer, and has already provided a massive backbone to the history of Psytrance and Nano Records.
