Kagami Smile returns to World Canvas with a new album 'Regarding the Pit in the Forest'. A spiritual successor to the artist's previous outing on the label 'Floating Underneath', 'Regarding the Pit in the Forest' shares similar aesthetics regarding composition drifting between delicate and developing ambient textures and harsher elements consisting of beat driven structures and distorted tonalities.

Over the course of 'Regarding the Pit in the Forest' Kagami Smile introduces sonic pieces with underlying aesthetics noticeable within the artist's wide catalogue of releases while displaying new ideas blending glimmering frequencies with murkier undertones, tying together in the ambiguous song titles and album's structure as a whole.

xato (est. 2018) is the moniker of the Greek, Vienna-based artist, producer and audio engineer Ioannis Nafpliotis (b. 2000). 

With a diverse palette of sounds, he debuted in 2020 with “State of Dismay”, an ambient/drone EP released on Himera’s boutique collective, “GoodbyeForever”. Entering 2024, he released a club essential EP "Emotional Burner" on DJ Loser's label “Magdalena’s Apathy”, featuring Atlanta's finest 645AR, his adisipated drone EP "Irrational Fear" via "evo-natura", featuring bod [包家巷] and the catastrophic bass / leftfield EP "Stories with no fairy tales" via "xyx", featuring Klahrk.

His work involves sound synthesis and manipulative resampling from personal sound design
sessions and field recordings, fusing club, hip-hop & avant-garde elements.

xato is the owner of the avant-garde label “evo-natura” and electronic club collective “xyx”.

The well-developed CDJ players nowadays offer so many possibilities for the modern artist. The way I mix is no longer limited to going from one track to the next. Now, I see hot cues and loops as separate sample bars—mixing becomes a form of live production. It’s about blending elements and textures, triggering specific sounds like launching pads. That shift turned DJing into something much more creative and playful. It was seriously fun! 

The one hour soundscape narrative inspired by the text Ruka Nayu wrote for our last audio-visual live performance at Forma HQ, London, UK in 2023.

Nanzhen Yang is a multidisciplinary artist, DJ, and producer based in London and Berlin.

Combining her background as a multi-disciplinary artist, Nanzhen crafts her DJ mixes with the signature storytelling flow, sculptural in structure and rich in emotional groove — Beneath her driving techno kicks lies a world of layered soundscapes, subtle moods and precise energy control, forming an immersive tension that draws listeners in. 

Each of her mixes is a compelling sound piece: tracks are selected out of a craving for unique sound textures and the subtle emotions. She paints the picture of an artist whose music hits the dance floor with force, electrifying the crowd, while simultaneously bridging clubs and art spaces through memorable sonic experiences.

During her formative eight years in London, her distinctive sound brought her regular appearances at the legendary East London club Fold, as well as a residency with the renowned
Boudica — a platform dedicated to showcasing women, trans+, and non-binary artists while
exploring the deeper, more playful sides of electronic music.

Following her move to Berlin in 2025 with the appearance at OXI, RSO, Kitkat and Kwia, she continues to expand her musical footprint to cities such as Copenhagen, Vienna, Riga, Prague, Shanghai, Tokyo, Melbourne, and Seoul.
