About Leopold: 🐻
His musical journey began around 1998, immersing himself in the world of techno music. Influenced by artists such as Rino Cerrone and Danilo Vigorito, as well as the releases from Theory and Ingoma, he found early inspiration. 
The mix CD series "Favorite Tools" from Austria held particular significance during this time, serving as his primary source of musical exploration on CDs. As Beatport emerged and vinyl gradually faded, he recognized the evolving landscape of music.

As the prevalence of minimal, slower techno expanded, he embarked on a journey to explore its raw, potent essence, echoing his fascination with genres like blues and punk. This amalgamation of diverse influences fueled his quest to carve out a unique musical identity and seek novel creative avenues.

Today, his mission is to infuse his past influences into contemporary times, 
integrating the vigor and authenticity of the underground scene. 
He aspires to bridge the gap between past and present while staying true to 
the core elements that have captivated him since his inception into the realm of electronic music.

Artist Presentation - Leopold Bär

Aufgezeichnet im Kalif Storch Club in Erfurt, bildet dieses Set den zauberhaften Abschluss der Afterparty zur freien Kulturkarawane, einer fahrenden Tanzdemo, die durch die Straßen der Stadt zog. Gemeinsam konnten wir für unsere politischen Forderungen einstehen und hatten anschließend eine grandiose Zeit mit vielen AkteurInnen und Teilnehmenden.

Das Mixtape nimmt euch mit auf eine klangliche Reise, die von knarzenden Bässen des Techno über energiegeladene Electro-Beats bis hin zu den treibenden Melodien von Progressive House und Dance reicht. Dustin Paak und Matthias Steiner harmonieren perfekt in ihrem back-to-back Set und kreieren eine mitreißende Atmosphäre, die das Publikum zum Tanzen und Feiern bewegt.

Die freie Kulturkarawane steht für Freiheit, Kreativität und Lebensfreude – all das spiegelt sich auch in dieser einzigartigen musikalischen Performance wider. A true believer in the capability of analog synthesizers, Italo Brutalo gets his first EP Paradiso Analogico released on Mozzarella Recordings in 2013. This release took the picture of Italo disco, being produced in a smokey 80’s studio in southern Italy, with is a knackered mixer desk, some fat mono synths covered in dust, a crappy digital effect box and a preprogrammed drum machine that somebody detached from a Farfisa organ that just plays an endless disco beat blasting angry Italo disco from the basement, to a cleaner perfectionist soundscape of the 21st century.
Keeping his originality, Italo Brutalo releases the EP Systeria on the label Days of being wild in 2014 and the EP Spydor on Nein Records in 2015. By then, he has already done lots of well-hyped remixes for artists such as Kris Menace, Justin Faust, Moonbootica, Auxiliary tha Masterfader, James Rod, etc.
Since 2017 he is producing a lot with none other than legendary DJ Hell. First record will be out in November.
With a turntable and synthesizer setup like few, Italo Brutalo performs world wide and has paid tribute to his Italo cause on dance floors and festivals, like Zoo Project in Ibiza, Wilde Renate in Berlin, Le Sucre in Lyon and Replicant Knights in Barcelona to name just a few.
Not limiting his skills and passion for his style to remixes, edits, tracks and DJ gigs, Italo Brutalo has also delivered numerous podcast sets to broadcasters such as Berlin Boombox, Death by Repetition, Nu Disco Your Disco, The Robot Scientists and others.
As always, Italo Brutalo will keep it real, high quality and will keep spreading his original old school synthesizer disco music vibe in the future by taking listeners, night clubs and festival motherships on a truly original voyage.
