Dear Friends, I'm totally psyched to be sharing this mix with you.  In the last year I've been (almost) all over the world performing, introducing people to this sound. The response has been overwhelming, and it seems like every new gig I travel to now has an even more electric atmosphere than the last. I've always been highly selective of the music I play, in an effort to define something new and distinct, and I feel now that this style is getting the recognition it deserves. 

So it's not often I do a mix, and this time I really wanted to showcase the state of the art of psychedelic tech-funk. There are lots of new and exclusive tracks in here which will be available over the coming months, and it clocks in a whopping 80 minutes. I hope you enjoy, please share it far and wide! :)

Friends,

some of you will be surprised to know that i play not only downtempo music :) I hope is a good surprise. This mix was at Burning Man 2016 at Disorient camp. This burn was great for me, and i was happy to spend 2 weeks in the desert and play this set on Friday 5 am. For my personal taste, techno music was not well represented at Burning Man, and i was glad to play a bit harder, more groovy and bassy techno rave set. I would add some music tags to explain what is inside “minimal / rave / psychedelic / pumpy”.

You can consider this as my Techno music demo. As you know, i am totally and fully in love in psychedelic chillout / ambient music, and this will stay the main focus of my project and this soundcloud page.

Below there is some more interesting information about this mix and my musical background.

Gagarin Musical Background:
I have been listening to all kind of different music, in the end 90s i discovered clubbing and had very interesting experience on dance floor (techno / jungle / dnb). Since that time i regularly attended clubs, raves, free parties, squats, warehouses all over the world. I love to dance to electronic music.

in the 2008-2010 i discovered psy chillout music on the internet and few years later i had my first psychedelic festival experience and discovered trance. With time i started to understand and feel better psychedelic trance music. Still, I have to say that there is only a VERY small fraction of the psytrance music that i enjoy. So even i attend main floor, i rarely stay there long :) And i would rarely go to a party with no chillout stage.

As for Techno music, i also have troubles in finding the one i really like, and i rarely go out to listen to other artist and DJ’s playing.

As all my previous "psybient / psychill" mixes published here, this is a live mix, recorded from 1st take and there is no editing except for a “Gagarin Project” voice sample that i added to protect this mix from being played by other DJs. Believe me strange things happen in this world.

The hard hitting vinyl label from Austria was the brain child of Rene Reiter since 2007. First it was just the name for a truck on the Unite Parade in Salzburg, where Maxx was invited to play in 2008. At the parade that year , after reviewing some unreleased material they both had, Rene and Maxx thought that the time arrived for Carbon Audio to start releasing plastic as well, so they started the label together.
The first Carbon Audio release followed in 2009, entering straight away the “recommended techno chart” from one of the biggest record outlets in the World: Juno Records (that was repeated again with Carbon Audio 2 and 4) The first 4 releases included big names in techno, like Chris Liberator, Sterling Moss, Mark Tyler, 3Phazegenerator, Riino, Ganez the Terrible, Acid Chochi and Pino Lopez.
On the upcoming release Carbon Audio 05, Rene Reiter opens the EP with the deep and hard track Defqon 3, followed by the fast pumping acid track Defqon 5.
The B side presents polish talent Black.Art with a hard old school acid track followed by a banging hard techno tune from Rene Reiter and Maxx, their first collaboration.
Since number 04 Carbon Audio is distributed by Zenith Distribution (www.zenithdistribution.com).
