DARK SET

Recorded from the 1-year anniversary party of Rogue Planet on 5 . 14 . 25, brought to us by Trinity Radio. This is my opening set, followed by Digital Kitkat, a favorite in San Diego and San Francisco and everywhere in between. I'll stand by in case they want to share their track list, but in the mean, I'll leave mine from the first hour. Please check out their sound. It is just. . . on another level. I was sweating through my clothes. I was a mess.

I forgot how faders work on the intro to the Globiter Remix (don't ask), but other than that, I'm satisfied with it, since I didn't plan it out. I just packed the playlist and played with the tracks that were in complementary keys, and it led me in a cool direction. Not sure if I will ever play Energy Flash on an opening set again, but it turned out to be a good call this time. Maybe if I play another Techno night and they want me to charge out of the gate?

Thank you to local superstar DJs Cheshirine and Vaughn Avakian, too, who turned me out, and proper, when Digital Kitkat left me for dead on the dance floor.

This last Sublime Saturday at Gelato Vero was the first time Thomas had the entire slot. We have two hours of higher-BPM Deep House and Techno Lite that took shape organically while trying to mix in key. In between the DHTL sandwich we have some Disco, Dark Garage, and *maybe* some Tech House? It all sounds nice enough. I dunno. This one hits different. It's kinda new for him. You be the judge. 

It was another overcast one. Nothing that a pint of gelato, an Italian soda, and a view of the bay can't fix. Good friends, foot traffic, and joyous jubilation were just what the doctor ordered. Join us on our future journeys to hear the live sound! We don't record it every time.

Gelato Vero Sublime Saturdays 7 . 26 . 25

As the son of a professional flamenco singer, Thomas has always been surrounded by music.  Exposure to flamenco influenced him because it has a dynamic range of emotions—from the "deep singing" style of cante hondo, to the more lively alegrias.  He has also worked in the corporate, independent, and online music industry for a number of years.  At one point he was a Content Manager for the Electronic Music genre at MP3.com, where he screened over 500 songs per day.  Exposure to a wide range of music explains the range of genres in his mixes—he uses whatever carries the mood.  From listening to Umm Kulthum's "Enta Omri" in his childhood, to New Wave and  Industrial as a teen, it became difficult for him to stick to one sound. Though vinyl was his original format of choice when he started in the 90s, the use of digital mixing has helped him better form soundscapes to expand your headspace.  Let him play with your moods for a spell.
