People's opinions on whether sporadic protests is an appropriate way out of unprecedented price hikes for fuel and basic commodities.

In the past months, prices for fuel and basic commodities in Uganda have skyrocketed to alarming levels, plunging the population into a situation of uncertainty.

Inspired by rhetoric by opposition politicians decrying government laxity in the face of this challenge, citizens have in the past days taken to the streets as a way of expressing disatsfaction, but also to force government intervene and adopt measures that would see a lapse in ever increasing commodity prices.

I therefore delved deep into the matter and labored to find out people's take on if protests are an appropriate way out of this crisis. I asked city dwellers around owino market for their take on the issue, and this is what they had to say;

Most people I talked to contend it's the only way out of the crisis, while others doubt if the strategy of protests will have an impact on the current state of affairs, in respect to alarming hikes in fuel and commodity prices.
