Is music just nostalgia? I’ve seen Depeche Mode (and others) over 20 times and it never gets old. But . . . it also never gets new or relevant to me - where I am NOW. I believe music is missing a vibe and intimacy of when music was new (to me) but with themes targeted at someone that’s seen Depeche Mode over 20 times.

“I was scrolling on my phone and came across a photo of my best friend and her boyfriend. And I thought: “She’s way out of his league! She could do so much better”. Feel like a lot of us have high standards for our friends' love interests. So I'm sure people can relate to this. So that sent me into a spiral of how many amazing women end up dating shit men (most often, with names starting with J - The J name phenomenon is real!). This song is about that situation, and how it really gives me the ick - still does. We wanted the song to be cheeky and playful with the silly vocal ad libs and autotuned outro. To make the most out of a silly situation, and reflect some of the personalities of these silly guys.”

Natalie Shay is one of the most exciting singer-songwriters emerging from the UK indie-pop music scene.
