This is a song about depression and survival. 

When I wrote it I still had another 25 years of surviving it ahead of me. But I'd made a decision years before, when I was 14, that no matter how bad it got it would always get better, sooner or later. And it always did, at least for a while. And knowing that somehow made it just a little bit easier to smile.


[This is a new mix. Drums by John Bennetts have been added and everything else has been changed, at least a little.]

Hey guys, so this song, Blame Me, is really personal for me. It’s about that emotional struggle we sometimes go through when we feel blamed or burdened by a relationship that's falling apart. I wanted to write from a space of vulnerability, where the emotional weight feels real—where you start questioning yourself, wondering if it's all on you or if you're just being made the scapegoat.

Musically, I kept it raw and direct to reflect the heaviness of that feeling. The production blends a mix of R&B and pop with some electronic undertones, allowing the emotion in my voice to take center stage. I didn’t want to overdo it with production; instead, I leaned into a smooth groove that carries the mood of frustration and sadness.

When I recorded the vocals, I wanted to make sure you could hear the ache and the strength at the same time. It’s like saying, ‘I know this is painful, but I’m also not going to let it crush me.’ That balance was important for me in the studio.

I hope Blame Me resonates with you guys, especially those moments where you feel like you're being unjustly held accountable for something in a relationship. Let it be a reminder that it’s okay to stand up for yourself, even when it hurts.
