This week MalLabel Music has something special in more ways that one. We are blessed to bring you a truly inspiring full length album from Santa Cruz' unclassifiable: Caidance, but doubly so to help him to make this album a fundraiser for families in need. 

Caidance has been sharing his art with the community for some time with all manner of music predominately in the Bass Music realm, but with his new album he wanted to give something more. So, all proceeds of this album will be going to Sacred Heart Community Service. These beautiful souls provide families in need with basic needs and the skills to help build safer communities with more opportunities within. Their 'Pack-ABack 2015' program provided 3,000 backpacks filled with school supplies to children in need to get them started on the right foot with the tools they need to succeed. 

The album Stepping Boundaries is a majestic ride through Caribbean beaches and sun filled afternoons with a Reggae Dub vibe infused with glitches and psychedelia. With a little help from Alexi Kenney on violin, 'Starlit opens the album with a rich emotional overtone while 'Single Malt Dub' gets an introspective, sun inspired solo from Andrew Levin on guitar. The seductive vocal stylings and lyrical magic of Elly Martinez take three more of these tracks into the depths of the soul, while even one more of these gets a second treatment with a remix of 'Sleepwalking' by Wisemind. The passions between exude the majestic beauty and reflective essence this album was created to embody. Everything you need to harness the sunshine vibes into the heart of any dance floor. Whynnel’s expert manipulation of sub-bass and synths; combined with perfect side-chaining and crisp percussion hats and kicks, bring this tune to life from the depths of the sonic sea. Just as we become accustomed to following “Murvan”’s gritty squeaks and filtered piano chords down the twisting path Whynnel has created for us - it ends, and we realize we aren’t the same person as when we started.

This week’s Thursday special from MalLabel Music is for a good cause as Hollis has put together an EP to help one of our champions of the electronic music scene and a light in so many people’s lives get what he needs.

Martin Dragonfly is about half way through the chemotherapy and treatments to get through stage 3 cancer, but as we all know surviving the atrocious costs our broken medical system is the real challenge. After all the heart and soul he’s put into promoting the people and festivals we love we’re going to do all we can to give something back! All your donations for this EP are going to help cut these costs down to Earth. <3

Hollis’ new EP, ‘Globetrotting’ has four beautiful pieces of bass and healing energy to get down to and a whole lot of love through and through. ’Childish Smile’ opens it up with happy vocal pitches and bent chords as ‘Globe Trotting’ takes the chords up in inspiration and the vocals through the glitch machines. ‘Love Notes’ takes a slow and steady build to the lovey bits with a tripped out breakdown while ‘Back In The Day’ explores memories with gusto in atmospherics and percussive manipulations. The love runs deep in this one!

This week, MalLabel Music is stoked to bring you an inspiring new artist with a fresh take on Funk and Blues for the 21st century. From Kansas City, Missouri please welcome our newest slap bass boss, DJN8. 

Always rockin' the funky beats and bringing a little bit of the blues back with style, you'll never find DJN8 too far from his  guitar. After laying down the silk lining with smooth licks and a little slap and tug on the strings he embroiders it with the freshest in Glitch-Hop sound design and Ghetto-Funk breaks. All this live at every show and somehow someone always seems to jump out of the woodwork and bust out a saxophone... You just can't stop this kind of Funk from spreading. With vibes like these it's no wonder he's already been playing with the likes of Big Gigantic and Krooked Drivers to name a couple from this year. Be on the lookout, because this Funk is coming for you. 

His new EP, The Onset starts off real slow with a little Glitchabilly/Blue Grass number by the name of 'Mars Man' that picks up about half way through with a sly sax and some funky bass manipulations. This slows back down again for the opening of 'Ninja' with some sultry pedal action that builds into some 70's porn licks over a smooth ocean cruising vibe before dropping the funky shit all over it. Finally, 'Realm' takes an atmospheric odyssey down the beach with a mix of Vaporwave vibes and creamy instrumentals to finish it off right. If you've been looking for some more of that velvet smooth Funk to get down to, then this EP has definitely got you covered.
