This is a chant to Rama, Sita and Hanuman.  Lord Rama was an incarnation of Lord Vishnu and his incarnation is said to have been for the restoration of righteousness.  Sita, his beloved, is considered to be an incarnation of Mahalakshmi, the Goddess of Abundance.  Hanuman, the beloved 'Monkey-God' who served Rama and Sita, is considered to be the epitome of devotion.

This chant has a section in the middle of the track that has the lyrics that are shown in parentheses in the lyrics section below.  The track begins with a sarod intro by Steve Oda, and features Joni Allen joining Natesh on call and response vocals and also exquisite improvisational vocals by Gina Salá later in the track. In addition to Steve Oda on sarod, it also instrumentally features Daniel Paul on tabla, Ben Leinbach on bass guitar, drums and hand percussion, and Natesh on guitar, drums and hand percussion.

Guru Dev Namo - I bow to the divine teacher within.

Yogi Bhajan taught this is ancient yogic mantra as a tool to relate instantly to the divine teacher within. Adi means primal or first.  In Kundalini yoga, this is the first mantra that should be used for any yogic or meditative practice.   It is used to tune in before Kundalini Yoga classes, to center us in the higher self, and to spiritually guide both the teacher and the students during the class.

Natesh has been chanting in the kirtan tradition for over 40 years, first connecting with this transformational spiritual practice in 1979.  He has led regular kirtan in Sedona, AZ, since 2004 and has led kirtan at BhaktiFest, ShaktiFest and other festivals. He's composed over 200 chants since 2004 and his chants have been called “some of the most beautiful melodies I’ve heard" and his singing "deeply soulful." His Bliss of Kirtan album has evoked comments like "stunningly beautiful for the ear and for the soul" and "a lovely and profound offering."

In 2016, Natesh became deeply connected with Brahmarishi Mohanji (www.mohanji.org) and has composed a number of chants dedicated to Mohanji, some of which are here on Soundcloud.
