Chase That Base

Originally from South Africa, Dylan spent most of his adolescence growing up on the Sunshine Coast in Australia. After spending a lot of weekends and free time down by the beach with his family and friends, he became very familiar with the beach vibe and culture that became a part of his everyday life and is now one of the driving forces behind his company and DJ name Yewplay. 

In 2010, Dylan decided it was time to step into a new side of the hospitality industry and started to learn about event management and DJing. With outdoor events being his favorite, he followed the music and event industry down the path of the house music scene which lead him to a mix of outdoor events like beach, pool and boat parties alone side club/lounge and restaurant gigs. With doing a combination of DJing and Event planning, he was able to create the beachie vibe and sound that flowed smoothly together. With this style feeling the most natural to Dylan it has helped him to create a vision that he is still living and working hard on presently. 

After started his Dj career in his home town of Mooloolaba, Dylan moved to Vancouver where he based himself for the next 5 years. Between a mix of bartending and management jobs, Dylan spent time on the side DJing each week, organizing specialty events and boat parties and also planned events in Miami and Cabo, Mexico each year. During this time he has become familiar with areas such as promotions, marketing, artist bookings and brand development. The industry has also given him the understanding of different music venues and genres and how to read the crowd to determine which music to play and what will create a positive experience for the people in the room. 

During the last few years, Dylan has been based in the USA and kept himself very busy. During this time he has DJed in cities like LA, San Francisco, Miami, Denvor and NYC. He created the event Sunset Sounds Cruise with a good friend that takes place on Clearwater Beach. It’s a full day of events with starting on the rooftop over looking the water, then a 3 hour sunset boat party finished with a beach party at the well known Shepards Beach Reaort. The event has sold out the last 4 times and Dylan and Andrew have taken the event from 150 people to now preparing for 600 with the help of bigger boat. During this time he also got booked to do a two week tour in India where he DJed 5 different events in 5 different cities. Being an international traveler, Dylan has thourly enjoyed getting the chance to travel and DJ in different locations.

This year in 2017, being based in Tampa, Florida, Dylan decided to focus full time on music and developing himself as an artist along side organizing a few annual events. Since starting in February, Dylan has been able to pick up 4 weekly residency's playing at Ciccio Water, The Lodge and Green Lemon and dedicates his weekends to working corportare events and private parties. He has also started an annual tour called Heart+Beats Tour that takes place 3 times a year, one being in Florida, USA, one in Cabo, Mexico and the other in Vancouver, Canada. It’s a 3 day tour with nightly events and the days spent giving back to the local community through outreach work and fund raiser events. 

Now working at night, Dylan has had the chance to spend time during the week to help out organizations like the Boys and Girls Club of Tampa put a music program together and has also become a board of director for the charity group Where Love Grows which helps teach kids how to cook and tackle childhood hunger. 

With a lot of positive things happening for Dylan, he has been very happy with his decision to focus full time on the music industry.  He looks forward to now incorporating music production into his schedule and to continue growing as an artist and DJing in different locations.
