Alison - Death By Bears

I have composed this piece in order to make the listener visualise a rain fall. There are two sections: The opening, which portrays the beginning of a gentle shower. I used a Glockenspiel to represent the raindrops and panned this track to give the illusion of rain falling around the listener. I introduce an atonal percussive synthesiser (“Mystic Vibes”) to give the impression of the rain becoming heavier. The texture becomes thicker as the piece progresses following the pattern of a rainstorm becoming heavier as it to progresses. I included timpani to add some low frequencies as this piece is dominated by the high end frequencies. The timpani also creates the impression of thunder rolling over.
The second section was written to represent the Sun appearing from behind the clouds. I used a guitar and a keyboard synthesiser to add warmth to the piece.
I wanted to create a piece of music that contained a lot of ambience; therefore a lot of reverb was applied to the majority of the tracks to create an ethereal feel to this composition.

This is the beginnings of my sampling piece. Using recorded samples of coins I have edited and manipulated the wave forms to create this hopefully short but interesting piece.

This is another track I have written for my Computer composition module. I have explored the use of frequency modulated synthesis. My inspiration ranges from the old Doctor Who sound effects to Beth Croft's Lectio Divina.

This piece was created using captured sounds from a weaving machine and synthesis. I used the following softwares during the development of my work: Logic ProX, Adobe Audition, Spear, Ableton and Cecilia.

Weaving Machine

Basically, I messed up the recording by cutting the choruses too short, and only noticed after doing two guitar tracks and a banjo track.
It was really an experiment to hear what everybody else thinks, so I figured I'd best put this version up to hear if anybody thinks I should take it any further, and re do it, with this set up, plus bass, vocals, and some crappy percussion (i.e hitting guitars)
