Having been ushered out of the grade school music program before he could get started due to a sore throat and impatient music teacher, he had to make his own way through the rolling hills and winding paths of our musical history. No formative year piano lessons or high school axe shredding, he got out of high school with his voice and some noodling on the bass, only to tire of the rampant and unimaginative appropriation of better years in the guitar based world of songwriting.

The latter part of the previous millennium was saved by Underworld, the Orb, Richie Hawtin and Toby Marks, some of whom also shed their rockland heroics for a chance to brave new waters. A novel concept which inevitably led to the middle ground of the Fischerspooners, Ascii Diskos, Cut Copys and Zoot Womans of the most recent decade gone by.

And this new amalgamation of sound broke down that rock barrier and led him decades back to appreciate anew the Beatles, Mayfields, Browns, Wars and Kutis of years gone by along with their new patrons across all genres and too vast to mention.

While his personal live sets may tend to sit solidly in the melodic minimal and deeper house genres, you'll be sure to hear the odd collection of funk, afrobeat, and reggae as the man calls on the masters. Reminiscing may even guide out a drum'n'bass dubplate or two while he recalls the early morning rave days stepping out of the dark, throbbing warehouse to the light of day, sober, refreshed, and satisfied. DJ Minx was inspired to spin at The Music Institute, where some of Detroit’s leading dance music DJs helped to hone her skills.

For two years she engineered and hosted “Deep Space Radio,” an electronic music show on Detroit’s WGPR radio station. She also voluntarily hosted a weekly radio program at the University of Canada on CJAM 91.5 FM called “Steamy Windows,” and later became a resident of world-renowned Club Motor in Hamtramck. In 2000 she was a featured performer at the first Detroit Electronic Music Festival, and has since become a regular fixture at Movement.

In December 1996 Minx founded Women on Wax, a collective of female DJs from the Metro Detroit area. From then on, she worked with promoters and DJs across the country to solidify the career of several top female DJs and singers.

In 2001, Minx established her own record label called Women On Wax Recordings, which has become a platform for her own productions (including the 2003 classic, “A Walk In The Park”) and outlet for local talent. Minx expanded her musical majesty by creating a sub-imprint of the label called W.O.W. B.A.M. (Women On Wax Bangin’ Ass Music), and continues to collaborate with, produce on, and remix for a number of labels.

Currently on the Liaison Artists roster, Detroit’s “First Lady of Wax” is going strong after nearly three decades of DJing and continues to play in cities across the U.S. and around world. She was recently named one of the “20 Women Who Shaped the History of Dance Music” by Mixmag and one of the “Best house music DJs of all time” by TimeOut New York. In 2018, she was presented with the Spirit of Detroit Award for “exceptional achievement, outstanding leadership and dedication to improving the quality of life.” In 2020, she launched Behind The Grüv, an online store that sells high-quality, reasonably priced casual wear, fit for lounging, outdoor events and working out.

One can only imagine what other paths Minx will explore in the years to come.

Amsterdam-born, Ibiza based producer and DJ Chelina Manuhutu is one of the most foremost, exciting names in the tech house and techno music scene. She is currently included on the ‘Alternative Top 100 DJs’ worldwide list — constructed by two of the biggest companies in the electronic dance music scene, DJ Mag and Beatport. Additionally, Tomorrowland included her as ‘one of the 20 artists not to miss on 2021 ’.

Being surrounded by a family of musicians and artists, Chelina’s up-bringing was continually centered around music. She has been living and breathing music since her childhood, but it wasn’t until 2011 when Chelina and her career in music kick started and became professionally bound to each other.

From that moment, she started to attain important residencies at Blue Marlin Ibiza and Pacha Ibiza, which helped her establish and carve out her own space in the world of tech-house music as a top-notch DJ with an active tour schedule. Since her start, her talent has secured her spot in some of the world’s biggest lineups for festivals such as Electric Daisy Carnival, Elrow, and Ultra — but also performing in world renowned clubs such as The Warehouse Project, Fabrik, Space Miami, Zouk Las Vegas, and more.
When she’s not touring globally, she spends her summers in Ibiza performing at some of the most distin- guished clubs and parties such as ANTS at UshuaTa Ibiza, elrow, HT Ibiza, Paradise & more.

Over the past few years, Chelina has evolved into a distinctive, badass producer within the tech-house scene, who’s taken over the Beatport charts by storm. Her productions have been released on many of the top-tier labels in the tech-house scene. Her music is acclaimed for carrying a specific swagger of cut-throat basslines combined with a trademark high level of grooviness.

She is a talented, strong and exotic feminine force and one of the most exciting artists in the underground music global scene. Top fashion brands such as Armani and KARL LAGERFELD have picked up on that and have recently worked with her on successful worldwide DJ campaigns and collaborations. Chelina is purely self-made and is unstoppable when it comes to reaching the next level.

There are many shades to Purrpelle... Her DJ sets often reveal a playful nature and her deep love of dub, funk, soul & bass. Whether she's shaking booties with big bass lines or selecting sounds for a soothing, reggae infused Sunday soundtrack, Purrpelle “exhibits crazy range and versatility” and a knack for stirring souls. 
 
Toronto-based Purrpelle (aka Violet) has played alongside top-shelf talent in forests and festivals across Canada, appearing at Harvest Festival, Solstice Gathering, Bloom Festival, Eclipse Festival, Hyperborea, Valhalla Sound Circus, In Flow, Boreal, Evolve, Om Festival and Sound In Motion.
