A Never Ending Story

Description: This is the sequel to my White Raven Mix, for those who may recall that my power animal, the white raven, who is both fragile and extremely powerful, cannot survive without its companion: the black bear. The bear is the raven’s protector, and it initially presented itself to me as both shy and ferocious. The wave I’ve created tonight intends to mirror the bear’s timid, sweet, clunky side as it awakens, followed by a show of its fearsome strength, and then, after the danger has passed, its core loving and nurturing nature. Last night, I encountered the bear within my right jaw and face, where my anger has been very intense of late. I allowed that feeling to grow, giving it more space when all I wanted was peace, but trying to have faith that feeling it more fully would facilitate some movement within me and some greater self-understanding. In the anger, I recognized my black bear, and the sharpness of its teeth and claws. I saw that this bear’s hostility is a manifestation of its profound love for the raven. The bear overrides its shyness in order to defend – to the death, if necessary – its beloved. Sometimes, it seems that this bear fights off friends as well as predators. It is overprotective, but for good reason. Of course, these are both parts of myself, and in seeing the anger within me as my protector, I am able to love it a little bit more…and to initiate conversations with it about distinguishing more clearly between friend and foe.

Black Bear Mix (Dec 5 2023)

This is a long recording from a ridge near the ocean, so the surf is in the background, there is bird and animal activity at dusk and dawn, and a big thunderstorm rolls in.  The Yellow-Throated Toucan is very active, and the Scarlet Macaws, Tinamou, and Mantled Howler Monkeys are also calling at dusk. I removed one section of a few minutes where the rainfall was so heavy it started leaking through and hitting the mics but otherwise left this recording intact.  I used my Sennheiser Double MidSide system with a Sound Devices MixPre recorder.

J'air repris ici dans une toute nouvelle version un de mes premiers morceaux créés au moment où je m'étais acheté, il y a maintenant déjà quelques années, mon piano numérique (Roland FP30) qui m'enchantait à lui tout seul par ses sonorités nouvelles pour moi. Il perd malheureusement beaucoup ici de sa sonorité, car je ne peux le brancher à ma carte audio que par sa sortie casque. De cette première version et de son arrangement d'époque j'ai cependant conservé ici  la partie centrale. J'espère que vous apprécierez son ambiance très rêveuse

Rosario Marcianò (Native Sound), in addition to being an author of essays, a documentary filmmaker and an independent investigator, especially expert in the field of clandestine geoengineering and geopolitics, is also a musical composer. Self-taught, since adolescence he has cultivated, among other things, a passion for art whose inspiring goddess is Euterpe. This passion, over time, has given rise to a style and inspiration transfused into instrumental productions of considerable emotional impact. 

His compositions, which tend to go beyond the boundaries of more or less codified genres or subgenres, tend to combine a tense, sometimes hammering sense of rhythm with melodic lines not devoid of a refined dissonance. Generally speaking, these creations can be traced back to the field of soundtracks accompanying dramatic films, thrillers, action films.

It is symptomatic that the motifs created are exclusively instrumental, we would say orchestral, so as to focus the enjoyment on the essence inherent to the art of sounds, without the intervention of the text which, although it can enrich the score, sometimes distracts from the heart of the inspiration. However, the titles, almost always coinciding with a single word or a syntagm of strong texture, introduce the forms and functions of verbal language to recover, so to speak, the eclipse of words.

The tracks are precisely fixed by incisive and pregnant titles, not only in relation to the phonic and melodic structure, but also foreshadowing abysmal themes: life, death, destiny, freedom, hope, nature, love, memory, meaning, power... They are the same contents that dot the section dedicated to the maxims: for this reason it seemed appropriate, indeed natural to us to match some pieces with precise aphorisms, as a harmonic complement. A music therefore to listen to, but also to read with a multisensory approach that involves soul and intellect, aesthetic pleasure and reflection.
