Akumen is a producer, DJ, and co-founder of Made to Move, a monthly event and live stream radio show, featuring DJs from Southern California and abroad bringing a fresh underground sound to LA. Akumen's emotive productions - released on labels including 12 Inches Deep and Low Recordings - range from uplifting and euphoric to brawny with a melancholy undertone, but always with captivating atmosphere and energy. 

As a DJ, Akumen fuses house, breaks, and rhythmic techno for a high energy set, appearing regularly across LA at bars, clubs, warehouses or streaming monthly on virtualpublic.net. For his Nativecast mix, Akumen takes us on a steadily building, hypnotic journey of chunky electro, acid, industrial and old school rave sounds.

De l’autre, l’univers sombre et cinématographique d’EKATA, résidente londonienne et exploratrice de grooves dystopiques inspirés par la science-fiction. Ces deux trajectoires distinctes convergent sur le split EP signé par le label rennais Ethos Records, attendu pour le 27 juin.

À travers quatre morceaux, deux par artiste, le split met en lumière des interprétations singulières de l’électro : Commuter livre des pièces où des mélodies acérées et des rythmes impeccables dialoguent avec des influences new wave et EBM. EKATA, quant à elle, nous emmène dans un récit sonore immersif, porté par des basses abyssales et des synthés angoissants.

Ce split EP, à la croisée des époques et des sensibilités, est une ode à la richesse intemporelle de l’électro.

On one side, the retro-futuristic elegance of Commuter, nourished by the first vibrations of electro and a fascination for Kraftwerk and Depeche Mode. On the other, the dark, cinematic world of EKATA, a London resident and explorer of dystopian grooves inspired by science fiction. These two distinct trajectories converge on the split EP signed to Rennes-based label Ethos Records, due out on 27 June.

The project features four tracks, two from each artist, highlighting singular interpretations of electro: Commuter delivers pieces where sharp melodies and impeccable rhythms dialogue with new wave and EBM influences. EKATA, for her part, takes us on an immersive sonic journey, driven by abyssal bass and eerie synths.

This split EP, at the crossroads of eras and sensibilities, is an ode to the timeless richness of electro.

@kamounmusic has developed a signature sound where percussive intensity meets atmospheric depth, blending polyrhythmic drums with modern electronic textures. His fascination for traditional tribal percussion, paired with influences from minimalist field recordings and British bass culture, generates a hypnotic energy that resonates with the raw power of contemporary electronic music.

On 'Wave Prophecy', his first 12" on Dance Data, Kamoun showcases his distinct range - from deep tribal grooves to high-energy dance tracks, Kamoun fuses rhythmic complexity with avant-garde sensibility, forming a unique and addictive sonic palette.

W133 is excited to welcome Tørrid to the label. The emerging Nürnberg-based artist and passionate drummer presents his „Broken Dreams“ EP, showcasing his deep love for percussion and rhythm.

This release marks a shift in his sound, focusing more on experimental and percussive elements. The EP opens with Brain Damage, a mind-bending acid-influenced track, with swirling sounds that twist and weave in unexpected directions. The second track, „Essauira 2“, picks up the percussive groove of the opener, gradually introducing a haunting synth line that adds a sense of eerie tension. „No Puppy“ follows, with its melancholic pads creeping in softly, creating an emotionally rich atmosphere. It takes a slightly slower pace, presenting a rolling, jungle-infused rhythm that transitions into a beautiful sequence of melancholic polyphonic arps. The EP concludes with „Bad Girl“, the fastest and most energetic of the four. It features jazzy, dreamy chords and a dynamic jungle beat, bringing a vibrant finish to the release.

„Broken Dreams“ will be available digitally on August 8th and is accompanied by a photograph by Philipp Roth.
