It all started with an explosion at the heart factory and thus Von Strantz was born. Soon even the hearts of old men were crying in their long-forgotten graves. Light in the midst of darkness. Personal but universal. Intimate. Timeless. Defies genre yet sounds so familiar. That was what her bio said, and it was true. It was true even to me, as I sat in the dark corner of one of the probably thousands of rooms she’s played in by now, trying not to be seen, but finding myself, unsuspectingly, unwillingly, not only seen, but pinned to the wall under the light of a heart that was made out of music. The fact is that Von Strantz is a great musician and if you’re lucky enough to find yourself at one of her shows, you might cry, even if you’re an emotionally dead old man who literally never cries—actually, especially then—it’s happened more times than she can wrap her head (heart?) around. She’s been performing live for every reason you can think of for more than half of her life and she’s recorded more albums than she can remember, under her own name and others, and you should really just go see her play or buy one of her albums, hopefully on vinyl, because what, did you really think that she’s ever gonna pay her rent with all those .0000000000001 one-millionth of a cent streaming-cents? The heart. For real.
Utilizing a variety of instruments such as violin, cello, keys, guitar and feet percussion, Von Strantz unites harmonies strung together by commanding and soulful lyrics. With story-sharing as their passion. Von Strantz invites their audience into the emotion of each piece. In 2015 Von Strantz won “Eddie’s Attic Songwriting Shoot-out”. The duo has traveled extensively playing thousands of shows and performing many festivals and venues including Electric Forest, Hard Rock Cafe, Schuba’s, Paper City Music Fest, Audiofeed, Starry Night ,Steel Bridge Music Fest, Mile of Music, and has shared the stage with some of their favorite artists, My Brightest Diamond, Josh Garrels, Crystal Bowersox, Over The Rhine, Howie Day & A Silent Film to name a few. Von Strantz is also Sofar Sounds Alumni.

With five music releases under their belt, The duo just finished recording their brand new record “Apple Of Your Eye” at Tiny Telephone Oakland with John Vanderslice, Jacob Winik, Jason Slota, Rob Shelton and Elijah Ford and are currently touring with the release of the new record.

Hailing from the river town of Stevens Point, Wisconsin, HHG plays something like progressive high-energy Old-Time folk music. With strong roots in old-time and bluegrass, the band has formed it's own unique style born from the diverse musical backgrounds and interests of the five friends who make up the band. All born and raised in the great state of Wisconsin, Horseshoes and Hand Grenades began playing music and their earliest shows in the spring of 2009. Since then, the band has shared the stage with the Infamous Stringdusters,Yonder Mountain String Band, Charlie Parr, Pert Near Sandstone, Art Stevenson and Highwater,.357 String Band, The Big Wu, and many more. Being mostly inspired by rivers, valleys, good friends, and good drink, this five piece is as sturdy as any midwest riverbed and will make your toes tape from sundown to sunrise.
