The Duo from Mexico does not emerge out of nowhere but has turned wheels, carried heavy subwoofers, manufactured and distributed discs and spread their non-negotiable dedication and passion for the craft of releasing records since when our parents still had to turn the TV off because we were dizzy from all the sugar and the loud cartoons.

Managing a net-Label while making a moove to Europe in the late 00's in order to serve fire to the local scene, you could tell those two are up to something and have it in their blood. Followed by many events, a vast catalogue and uncountable mixes the two Partner's describe their form of Dj'ing as extended language of themselves. Playing records at home while dealing with sh*t or in a club together with friends and a constantly surprised crowd, it doesnt matter as long as it slaps!

There are few labels as widely admired as John Talabot's Hivern Discs which operates out of the Catalan capital, Barcelona. This year the label will feature a newly signed artist and it comes in the form of Cleveland. 

Originating from Luxembourg and now based in Brussels Andrea Mancini finds himself very much aligned musically with his Spanish counterparts from Hivern Discs. His moody, emotive take on club music has led to the support for his sound from the likes of Oskar Offermann. His new release has been tried and tested on dancefloors around the world for months, as is often the way with a new release on Hivern Discs. Nothing is left to chance.

He steps up to take us on a tour of his sound in the present.

Nadia Khan - In Gleam

The latest release on Francis Harris' Scissor & Thread is another exercise in subtlety and restraint, brought to us by the emerging talents of Nadia Khan (@nadia-khan-10). With little known about the artist, this release lets the sublime music do the talking.

Title track 'In Gleam' is a beautifully evocative drift into ambient textures - rising pads and occasion bass tones combine to set an exquisite scene.

'Local Visit' is a collaboration with label boss Francis Harris (@cfrancisharris), and features some of the trademark submerged rhythm and textures the label has become known for, unfolding its deep structures over the course of the track.

'Restless' sees label regular Alex Albrecht aka Melquíades (@melquiadesmusic)(whose previous EP on S&T was received warmly) provide the Last Bells remix - again muted tones and rhythmic complexity glide under ethereal piano fragments and slowly evolving pad washes.

'Sorting Through' finds its groove early, a deadened kick unfolds into an urgent percussion creating a thick atmosphere of melancholia.

Sunburnt' rounds out the physical release - ending how it started - with dreamy, smudged tones, and warm pads.

The digital release contains two extra pieces - 'Place of Necessity' works with drones and single mutating notes, building a feeling that is both warm and simultaneously uneasy. The original version of 'Restless' is also included here - another ambient cut, drifting through wide open spaces and deep, meditative spaces.
